The hook you are using is an ewg hook. Probably a 2/0 or 3/0.

I store my rod with the line bent across the tip all the time. I've never had my line fail due to the bend. In fact, after a few casts, the bend is gone.

I tried electrical tape and they rip easily when tightening with my metal locking nut. At least that is my experience.

I have one rod with a metal locking nut. I am not a big fan. It scratches my reel foot and feels like it might back out easier than the hood style. But right now I have a shrink tube on it. Maybe that Abu protector will provide additional friction to keep it from backing out.

Any tips on fishing the Silver Buddy on a bottom that is not completely clean without hanging up?

I use a snap but not a swivel. I don't think the swivel part is necessary. The fastach is a good option too.

Just tried my creation today and while it swam well, it did not seem to have the hunting action that the omega promised. I don't know if it was because of the swim jig that i was using. That is the only thing that I can see causing a difference. And i didn't catch a fish.

Interesting idea. I have some swivels that I can try on my bladed jigs. If I get to try it tomorrow, I'll report back.

I don't know from where, but I heard that it is bad to push the thumb bar when the gears are under load.

I think that they are talking about bending the hook point slightly so that it offset and not inline with the eye. The pic below is for a circle hook, but the idea is the same.

I noticed that my 110 plopper tail is not spinning as freely as before. I checked and there are no dirt/weeds stuck between the body and tail. I do see that at times the tail seems to be rubbing against the body (like the connecting wire is bent). And I've tried to bend it back but cannot get enough angle to do it (the clearance is very tight). Any of you guys have the same issue?
