  1. I have circle hooks on a few of my 1 oz lipless crankbaits. I have to use 2 split rings to get the hook pointing straight. But that is not a big deal. With the heavier lures, I've had issues with the fish throwing the baits. But since I've changed to the circle hooks, I have not lost any. Those hooks are almost impossible to throw. I would say give it a try and see if you like it. You can always switch it back. Also I want to point out that a lot of saltwater lures come with single hooks, so I don't see why the circle hooks won't work.
  2. Look at the line diameter. I bet there is not much difference between the 2.
  3. They typically live in very shallow water a lot of people have luck using hollow body frogs and chatterbaits to catch them.
  4. They don't rattle. But might click a bit when the back and front sections knock. You definitely want the tail. It gives a swimming action that makes the rat look real.
  5. I fish my short arm spinnerbaits with the same retrieve as the long arms.
  6. I am pretty sure that Ned only uses one type of lure. And he's pretty good at it.
  7. The description says that the matte finish does not chip.
  8. I tell my wife all the time that she's going to go broke while saving money!
  9. I wanted to get one, but I did not see an option for a left/right hand reel. I guess that you can choose once they are ready to ship.
  10. I had a couple of them and I thought that it was closer to a fast action. The middle section feels pretty stout.
  11. I swapped out the trebles on my 1oz lipless cranks with circle hooks. I have not lost any fish that I have hooked. With the normal trebles, the lure weight would give the fish a lot of leverage. I think the only down side is if the fish swipes at the lure, the single hook will not catch it.
  12. From my experience, as long as the opening on the snap is facing up, it does not snag much. As far as landing hook side up, I try to cast beyond my target in to open water and then drag it over....or before the lure hits the water, engage the reel and give a lure a quick tug, most of the time that will help the lure land right side up.
  13. From the thumb bar measurement, it sounds like a 4600.
  14. When i had the deeper, i just used a regular medium rod that i had sitting around and a spinning reel. I would hold the rod in my left hand with the bail open and throw the deeper like a baseball. I find that i can throw it pretty accurately and I didn't have to get a dedicated rod for it.
  15. When spooling a spinning reel, don't put it on a pencil like you would on a baitcaster. Just set it on the ground and let the line come off the side. There are lots of videos on Youtube showing the proper way to do it.
  16. Thanks schplurg, I have a few more presidents coming my way
  17. I have to chime in with my experience. I have the Lifetime Tahoma which is the same as the Tamarack without the rod holders and extra back hatch. I added some homemade outriggers and now i have a rock steady kayak for about $300. When I bought the Tahoma, it was about $60 cheaper than the Tamarack. But lately, the Tamarack price has come down at Walmart and is only $10 to $20 more. If I had to do it again, I'd go the Tamarack route. But overall I have no regrets. I was initially worried by the same people that said that cheap kayaks are not comfortable and cannot be fished out of all day. But so far, my cheap yak has been perfect for me.
  18. I haven't heard of it for t-rigs, but doesn't sound like it would hurt anything to use it. A lot of people add eyes on soft swimbaits to add extra realism.
  19. The bluegills fight much harder than the bass pound for pound. It's definitely fun if you have the right gear.
  20. Does the stainless steel plating make it more durable?
  21. Those look exactly like the Big Bite Baits. Glad that you like it so much.
  22. I was only able to use the code once
  23. Must be only at select stores. I went to one tonight had them at the regular $49.95 price.
  24. Haven't tried it yet, but it looks promising. Let us know how well you do with it.
  25. Looks like the 808 comes prespooled with 20lb line. I would guess that the combo rod would be beefy enough for the swimbait. Only one way to find out, go out and toss it. Go gentle initially, don't try to launch the bait into the next county.
