  1. I also have a few of the 4.5" swimbaits. I use 12lb Big Game when I throw that lure. The Zebco 404 should not be an issue, but make sure that your rod can handle the 1.4oz weight of the lure. I don't cast mine super hard, I usually just lob it.
  2. I wouldn't worry too much about the bait being too long. From what I've heard, a 2 lb bass have no problems engulfing a 12" worm. So a 9" jellyworm should be a piece of cake. I would however try to use a 5/0 or 6/0 hook with that worm. I don't have any suggestions on the line. Perhaps someone else will chime in on that.
  3. Do you guys think that the leather trailers are a good replacement? From the reviews, it seems that they are just as durable if not more so.
  4. I have the left handed version and mine is very smooth. If you tighten the tension knob too much, it will be hard to spin the spool. You might have some dirty bearings/gears in side. Watch some youtube vids on how to take a reel apart and go slowly.
  5. I bet it is overstockbait.com.
  6. For those that missed out on the $21 deal. Sierra has them for $30. Although a few $$ more, it's still a good deal.
  7. Not in the best condition? Did it become brittle?
  8. Watch the tide schedule. If you go at the wrong time, the water may be only a few inches deep. I've caught some nice bass from there, but none recently. I've also seen some dead snakeheads on the bank. So they are in there as well.
  9. They used to have green, smoke and pink in addition to the clear. But I think the clear is all that is left.
  10. I have to give you props for having such self control. I only saw 1-2 of each items on your receipt. If it were me, it would be closer to 20-30 of each item, especially on the $0.48 ones.
  11. Was this at the local store or online? I know my local store does not have any Pfluegers in stock. Nevermind, I saw the items online.
  12. You might need to hit another jackpot. The link that AJay posted has the 1000 yd spool of Invizx for $65 after a 40% off coupon.
  13. I don't think that it is meant to be use on pads or thick mats.
  14. I have some in the shad color. They seem to roll slightly while coming through the water in a S pattern instead of swimming completely vertical. But that does not seem to affect their ability to catch fish. The stock treble hooks are a little weak, so you might want to swap it out. But for the price, they are fantastic. They also seem to spin the air while casting if you try to whip it hard. So don't over do it.
  15. I have a US Reel casting reel that I bought on clearance in 2012. I liked their rotating levelwind, it can really sling a bait out there. However after a couple of years, the levelwind bar had some grooves notched in it from using mono line. I removed the levelwind and still use the reel for bluegill and crappie fishing.
  16. I came across this old video of tuna fishing back in the 30's. It's amazing the equipment that they use and how many fish they catch. How they don't hook each other is nothing short of a miracle. Hope that you enjoy it as much as I did.
  17. If the weight was pointed up, then it would catch less grass on the way up. But as in the pic of the video, it would fall through grass and cover easier. Ike said that he likes to put 2 bullet sinkers one up and one down to make it weedless on the fall and the retrieve.
  18. In Ike's vid, he said he was dragging it. But viewing it again, he was dragging the rig directly on top. It would look different if you were casting 40 ft out.
  19. I see it too!
  20. I just tried the Tokyo rig today. Not sure if I am using it wrong but I am not impressed. Ike said that there is no wrong way to use it and I believed him. I was dragging it like he said in the video. However, I found that when dragging the weight, it would cause the bait to lean forward and dig through the mud and not floating off the bottom as advertised. The only way to keep the bait off the bottom was to hop it or vertical jig it. Anyone else had any success with it? What am I doing wrong?
  21. Can you get the same deal on a 5500? The frame size is easier to deal with compared to 6500.
  22. Don't put too much emphasis on the 10+1 bearings. My Kastking Spartacus has 6 bearings in just the 2 knobs. I am not bashing it. It's a great reel.
  23. Govalis, you and I rig softbaits exactly the same way....right down to the screw lock. And you are correct, the baits last at least 10x as long as the traditional rigging method.
  24. That diagram shows that it has a thread through shaft.
