  1. Are the eyes of the hook offset?
  2. I'm a big fan of the Abu round reels too!
  3. The clacker buzzbait caught me countless of nice fish this year so far.
  4. I bought one of the early models of the rat and the tail gets hung up on the rear treble on every other cast. I called SPRO and they told me that the first batch of the rats had defective tails. After they sent me a replacement, the problem went away. Perhaps you got one of the first batch rats?
  5. Ace Hardware? Who would have thunk. No fishing tackle at my local store. But congrats to you. How were their prices?
  6. Yeah, I ordered one a while back and they felt like crap so I returned it.
  7. Just noticed that they are on preorder at DSG. ETA is 7/21
  8. I've had a couple of inline spinners where the blades bent (Mepps) after I smacked them on the water to get grass off. What caused it was the lead weight smacking against the blade when it hits the water with a lot of force. So now I've learned not to clean grass off that way. I don't think your blades are defective.
  9. I just bought two Spartacus reels over the weekend. I like them so far. They cast well and has nice drag. In some spots on the frame, the plastic feels a little thin, but does not seem to flex. Decent reel for the price. The difference in the Spartacus reel vs Assassin seems to be the carbon handle and the ported spool.
  10. I use a snap and on my R bend spinnerbaits, I use the dental rubber bands like Crestliner suggested. Never had an issue with them.
  11. Interesting....I thought the 110s were suppose to be 3/4 oz. But the package says 1 oz.
  12. Does it swim vertical without any weight?
  13. It is super busy most of the time. Not to mention all the runners and bikers all along the trail. It's hard to bank fish as well.
  14. I will double check my measurements, but I am pretty sure I took off about 1.5". Yes the remaining wire is about an inch or a bit above that. Surprisingly, it does not lay on the side on a relative fast retrieve. I'll try it out this week and see if I get any fish on it.
  15. No, it was a #6 willow leaf blade. The weight was approx 3/8 oz.
  16. I did a quick test last night. I cut about 1.5" off the blade arm and attached a size 6 blade. I wanted to use the large blade to imitate larger bait fish but did not want the extra lift. The shorter arm allowed me to run the spinnerbait faster without too much lift with the size 6 blade. So I think I found my solution. Thanks everyone.
  17. The new size will be awesome!
  18. I am trying to make some spinnerbaits on my own. I see some with longer blade arms and some shorter. Does anyone know how the length of the blade arm affect the way the bait runs in the water? Update: I did some searching online and came across an article by ***. He stated this: "The short arm causes the vibration to be felt as a rapid, tight rattle, a shake or hard shiver as opposed to a throb or a thump. The short arm creates a lipless crankbait feeling in the rod tip. The short arm seems to hold the blade in one spot rather than gyrating all over. It creates quite a bit of flash concentrated in a small area."
  19. The Lightning Shock 7' MH is on sale at my local Walmart for $20. It might be the same at other locations too. It's worth checking.
  20. I personally use 2/0 and 3/0. But anything from size 3 to 1/0 should work if you want to keep it on the smaller side.
  21. Yup just buzz it across the top....except it is weedless, so you can run it across almost anything.
  22. Not sure. But I hung my 12lb line on a log and my 15lb drag slipped without the line breaking.
  23. I love how much noise it makes on top of the water. But the tail seems a bit weak. Might come off after a fish or two.
  24. I was in the same boat as you. I was using 15lb Big Big Game and decided to switch 12lb for the extra capacity and casting distance. Both are minimal, but where I fish there is not a lot of cover, so 12lb is more than sufficient. I use spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and chatterbaits for the majority of my fishing as well as t-rigged worms.
  25. Just stopped by my local Walmart, I saw the Berkley Lightning Shock 7' MH was priced at $20. The rest of the Shocks were $40. I had to resist but I thought that I'd pass on the good deal to you all.
