  1. I would recommend Big Game 8lb line. It is a great line for everything you mentioned.
  2. If i had to do one, i would use a zman worm to make sure i don't have to rig again if the worm tears.
  3. The action looks pretty enticing.
  4. I have used 6lb line on my baitcaster before without many issues. I just have to be sure that after catching a nice sized fish, I check the line to make sure it did not dig in before making the next cast. I also do that when I have to pull free from a snag. With the 6lb line, I typically have the drag set pretty loose so the line digging in is not usually a problem.
  5. Maybe try a small jerkbait on the end.
  6. I've tried the cps springs for nose hooking flukes and for dropshots. It seems that if a fish jumps and shakes its head, the spring will rip out of the plastic baits. I have better luck with springs when used with t-rigs.
  7. I'd like to see some with a hook point against their finger 50 ft out and using mono line to see if the hook has trouble penetrating because of the "stretch". You can also try with a hook in your mouth, but that would sound a little mean.
  8. Wait....there's bass in that video?
  9. Can you give more details in how to tie it on the hook? I've never tied a fly before.
  10. I have a weight that is made to untwist lines. It has molded grooves to make it spin in the opposite direction when you retrieve it back. I forgot the name. Let me find a link for you. Here it is: https://gardnertackle.co.uk/product/spin-doctor/

So much for matching the lure with the forage. I wonder what the Pokemon is a close match with ?
  12. Yup just reel up and the fish will hook itself. I use circle hooks on wacky rigs. Once the fish is hooked, it is almost impossible to throw the hook no matter how much they jump.
  13. What do you mean by deep spinnerbait? I have cut off spinnerbait arms to make them shorter. Just need to use a needle nose plier to make the loop for the blade and bearing.
  14. I think the Heddon Moss Boss would work great in that slime.
  15. Coils are just loose loops, they are not that big of a deal. But line twist can really mess everything up. Here is a pic of a bad line twist.
  16. I pulled cicadas slowly across the top of the water a few weeks back and got a couple of nice sized bass. But overall, I think that all the bass and panfish are stuffing themselves with the easy meals. If you have a small lure that looks similar to a cicada, I am sure it will do well.
  17. I took my daughter to a pond filled with bluegills for a little bit of fishing with a cane pole. We used cicadas for bait and it was almost too easy in the beginning. The bluegills were biting on every try. But after 30 mins, they got smart and only bit off the end without getting the hook. I had to keep dipping the cicadas to get them to be more aggressive. I noticed that the bluegills don't jump out of the water to eat the bait, so I was able to hold the bait just above the water to see them swarm underneath. I was caught off guard when a nice sized bass jumped out of the water and grabbed the cicada. I handed the pole to my daughter to pull the fish in. But the bass fought hard, a couple of times it almost pulled her in. I had to step in and help her. She didn't care, she was laughing the whole time. I loved that she was so happy and had a good experience fishing with me. I didn't think it would be possible to pull in a bass that size on a cane pole and 8lb line. I was impressed to say the least. I might just try leaving my rods and reels at home and use cane poles once in a while just to keep it simple. Anyone else use cane poles?
  18. I am a bit OCD so I clean my guides after every outing. I just wipe it down with a damp towel. It only takes 30 seconds.
  19. Heddon has a lure called the Moss Boss. It is made just for that purpose. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Heddon_Moss_Boss_Spoon/descpage-HMBS.html?from=gshop&gclid=Cj0KCQjwsLWDBhCmARIsAPSL3_2OCEUCx8kaP_V4dqHHqpE7smtoPyjU8wNRi40lXDWjys5jyygVN8caAhz0EALw_wcB
  20. I always oil the spool, side plate and tension knob bearings in new reels because they are the easiest to get to. I leave the others for when I do a full cleaning.
  21. Just curious if your club is getting a bunch of rods to share between the members or do they each have dedicated setups. Also do they have their own rod and reels or do they have to use the club equipment?
  22. If people will eat snakehead, I don't see why they won't eat asian carp. Snakeheads sound even worse and are probably just as slimy. I just wish that there was a way to catch them on a rod without snagging. Imagine fighting a 30lb jumping carp.
