  1. As much as I fish plastics I do not fish these too much. I like to wacky rig Zoom Centipedes, and usually I am tossing a shaky head with some style of trick worm. I can not bring myself to pay that much for a bag of baits, but I might just bite the bullet and buy one pack of watermelon this season, just to check the hype. I have used Big Bite Baits senko style, and seems to work well, but I always here about the GY being the best.
  2. Those zoom centipedes are awesome served up wacky
  3. Nice net! and fish
  4. I would use it as a spinnerbait/swig jig rod, I personally toss those on a M/F though MH/F is all around, but the length is what I say spinnerbait.
  5. While the black max is cheap, it is not that bad. I used one last season as a cheap replacement and this reel handled heavy cover jigging just fine. Never had an issue, it is not the smoothest reel in the world but it works for the purpose.
  6. clip off all the line ends, soak my plastics with scent to keep them moist, figure out what I need to buy
  7. I equate the fishing industry with the fitness industry, you will hear so much to get your money, but it is up to you to find what works regardless of the hype. It is no secrete they are trying to sell us, but the actual fishing tips and such I do listen because they have 20+ year of experience on me!
  8. trebles and towels are a frustrating mixture
  9. I actually thought about it and I found a way to do it like I would do a trailer hook on a spinner bait. Also, he told me what that little blue doodad is and it really made sense. I can't wait to try this out, as I love swim jigs but want something that is not a chatter bait. I feel this is going to be a good alternative. I do not swim many white colored jigs, mostly bluegill pattern, or darker colors like black and blue. So I will play with colors/style of blade. I always loved in-line spinners as a kid, and this is sort of a cooler version of that.
  10. Here is some advice, and no, I did not check to see if this as already been posted. I know how you feel, I was a hardcore fishermen in my younger years 10-19 then I had to take time off to party, which I thought was a better idea.....meh Anyway, all I used to use was plastics and lipless cranks, spinners. Now all I use is plastics (shaky/wacky/trig/weightless), Jigs (all types), Spinner baits and lipless cranks. All I have added is the jigs (and I am glad). The point is, stick to what you know, and move on when it either gets very boring or you want to learn something new. Chasing what others use is a slippery slope, you will be trying many things and never getting one under your belt. Senkos are working for you, try them every way you can, master that and then move to something else, maybe a different worm in a new style. Or maybe a jig that is fished similar. My point is, do what comes easy for you, chasing something neat or cool can cause a lot of frustration and money loss. I know I hate to do something when it is not fun, and getting into the bait chase of others makes me hate fishing. /rant
  11. are you asking about the braid to FC connection knot, or the FC to lure knot?
  12. x2 2/0 size normally.
  13. I was always wondering about this, I have been wanting to do this for some time. If I can toss a jig, or a spinner I will hands done over anything else. I was looking into bladed jig heads, but I like this much better, I just never knew what to get to keep that swivel on the hook. If you can, can you PM me what the blue keeper is, and where I can get some, or where I can get the mats to make my own.
  14. Well guess I will try this, just used the last of my BANG! on all my plastics that have been sitting all winter. Any recommendation of 'flavor'?
  15. I am going to assume it is a Medium/Fast V2. I only use Vendettas right now because 1) I like them a lot for the price and 2) I am poor I use them with Lews SS's and for spinning I use a Abu Orra spinning reel. I have used 50lb braid in the past, as well as braid with the spinning reel. I have not used my M/F BC setup yet, but I have used my M/F spinner setup alot for all sorts of light/medium applications w/ and w/o braid. You should have no problems using that rod for frogging, they are stiffer than a typical medium (Most people say this and it is somewhat true) I trust these rods a lot, and for the price they are awesome, IMO.
  16. If you spend less on the reel you can afford a better rod. Excuse me for assuming this, but I am guessing you are somewhat new to fishing in general. I would get something cheaper than a revo to keep overall costs down for the whole setup until you learn what you like a little more. And I agree for what you are trying to catch, I would go MH/F 7' + I would probably buy a Vendetta 2 (MH/F 7'-7'6") [80$] and a Lews Speed Spool [100$] MSRP for everything. You can get this all cheaper online or during a deal. Personally I wouldnt go out trying to catch huge carp or salmon on my dedicated bass gear, but that is me.
  17. very fair. 15 shakey head2 30 jig heads 30 skirts under 73 bucks shipped = a good deal
  18. I dont know if this helps, but I always soak my baits in BANG! Gralic. It is cheap and it is easy to spray in the bags. I do this mostly to keep them nice and moist when they sit all year. I wont spray them right away, just when they get a little dried out. I always feel this helps the colors to pop for a while, at least it makes them prettier to me....
  19. IT DIDNT TOUCH THE CARPET AHHHHHHHHHHHH AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH always love mike!
  20. Anything green black or brown with various flecks.
  21. Siebert is a no brainer! Where else can you get 30+ jigs for under 70 bucks shpped? the brush jis rock, great hook and they stand up nice and you can really lock into the bass jaws
  22. I like to keep it simple, I fish a lot of soft plastics, they just happen to always be on a shaky head (jig), or wacky head (jig), but sometimes I will go t-rig or weightless I think head style is more important that weight when it comes to fishing a certain area. if you use a Bullet on a muddy flat and the bait just sits there dead you might not get bite. But if you use a Brush style that will stand the bait up to be seen more you will have a better chance. Just what I have noticed.
  23. Well, I skimmed the thread and saw the answers so here is mine, hope it helps. I fish mostly Jigs, if it isn't a jig it is a spinner or top water (popper/walker). Here is my thought process... I use 7' MH/F w/ 6.4:1 Reels, 12# FC If I want to fish on the bottom I will either go with a Football or a Brush jig. If there are rocks/hard bottom, Football. If there is a muddy bottom, Brush jig. If I want to fish a swim jig I will either go with a Seibert Outdoors 'blind eye' head or a bullet head. If there is grass/weeds I will go Bullet, otherwise I will use the Blind eye. Color comes down to either Black/Blue skirt w/ Black/blue trailer (chuck or twin tail grub), or some variation of Green (watermelon/red/purp, pumpkin/red/prup, blue gill) Not sure what colors work best in your location....but just use those. Also I will use 1/2 oz for all jigs except swim jigs which I will go 3/8 oz. If I want to go smaller I will through a shaky head (1/8-3/16 oz) Most used jig is a Black/Blue jig with a Black or Blue chunk/craw/dbl twister tail, Football and the skirt is "finesse" cut 50/50 of the time.
  24. brush, football, bullet. I love the bullet for 3/8 swim jigs
  25. if i had a job and was not in school, I would drop the money for one of these as soon as it goes on some sale, its only money, plus this thing is awesome.
