  1. I have a 6'6" MH ugly stick lite rod. It's one of my favorite rods and have been using it paired with a PQ in 4.7:1 for cranking. I use alot of crank baits and this set up is awfully heavy and a day on the lake and I'm worn out. I was thinking of making it a frog rod. I'm in the process of upgrading all my rods to better quality ones. I want something lighter for crank baits. I thought this might be a good rod for frogging. It's stiff as hell and stout! Think this will suffice? What makes a good frog rod? Thanks
  2. Did you pay with credit or debit card?
  3. 50 pound braids diameter is equivalent to 12 pound mono if I'm not mistaken. 12# pound mono for heavy baits in heavy cover when fishing is on the lighter side of what I feel comfortable with.
  4. Most if not all of the lead exposure that's toxic is from breathing in fumes when smelting If your truely worried about it, take some rubber gloves and a mask. Open the baggie of weights. Spread them on some wax paper and hammer them with some black krylon spray paint. Coat a few times and that should suffice.
  5. She did slam that sucker!! Nice catch man
  6. Garage? My garage is 100 plus in the summer and below freezing in the winter. Today's Teflon coated guns can handle that kind of temp changes and extremes. Older blued guns cannot. Can you move them to a closet in the house? For what it's worth, I use a product called Rig Oil. Works wonders on finishes. Safe for all finishes and is more a light grease than an oil.
  7. I was in the market for a rod in the 70 dollar range and these were way out of that. I did mess with several at my local bass pro. I was sold at first sight. I put off buying one as I have a bday in a few days and my parents seem to think at 33 they still need to spoil their son. Bass pro gift cards is the norm. I'm going to wait and splurge and get a Ducket. These blew everything out of water that I tested and looked at. I swear my 100 yard spool of braid waiting for my Silver Max weights more than this rod
  8. Well there is no doubt its working for people. Hopefully I will notice a difference soon.
  9. For gods sake man, put down the caffene and slow down. You don't have to have a spoiling machine to put on line. You get a friend, a ball point pen and spool the thing. That's why we have a thumb and finger. People have been putting on line for years without a spooling machine
  10. My line is about 2 months old. When I say I cant tell a difference in casting is I am getting some serious casts as it is. Backlashes are minimal. I guess I will respool in a few months and give it another shot when the line is new. Thanks for the help
  11. Hey guys. I was reading the Senko thread and liked how it was pinned for everyone to see before they made a post about them. That got me thinking. What about something like that for rods? I see alot of posts about different rods for different price ranges and techniques. Something like best rod in the 0-50 dollar range, 50-75 dollar range etc etc. All of the members could put their two cents in on the rods they have likes dislikes price where to buy etc. I'd be willing to take all the info, write it up in a word file and post the new topic giving credit for each bit of info to the member that posted it. May take some time but I like doing that type of stuff. I my self have 9 rods varying 20 dollars up to 75 dollars and alot of use with them. So what do you guys think? Mods? I guess it could be my and others way of giving back to the site
  12. I have the Pro Qualifer in 4.7 and love it. I'm wishing I would have got it in 7.1:1 though. I love crank baits but around here the water is so shallow throwing them sucks. I love this reel. Its my favorite of the family but I never get to use it enough. I'm watching the classifieds though. The next PQ in 7.1:1 comes to me!
  13. No problem. My local Bass Pro has one left. They sold out pretty quick. They made a color change on the reels and discontinued the rods is what I was told. I wish they had it in 7' medium and I would have bought 3. I bought those black and gold reel grips to match and it looks sharp!
  14. Ive been hearing all kinds of good stuff on the KVD line conditioner. Bought a bottle yesterday. Followed the directions from here and the You tube videos. I really cant tell a difference. Line is still a curved memory mess. My casts didn't seem to change at all. Really never had any problems with distance or backlashes in the first place. Am I missing something or? Btw. Line is 15 Seaguar fluoro.
  15. I hope so too. The last couple of years have been like "is it basketball season yet"
  16. Gotta give us more credit than that lol.
  17. Got mine today as well. 37 days to my door. Its kinda crazy, I was hoping for the 4/0 Magworm hooks and thats what I got!!
  18. I have that combo in the 7' MH. I acutally love it honestly. The drag is vey soild on the reel. The drag star clicks with each movement. Reel feels very soild and I havent noticed any of the flex people talk about when setting the hook. Retreival is very smooth too. I have the Pro Qualifier and its just as smooth. Its one of the easiest reels that I have ever set up honestly. I am running 15 pound fluoro with a mono backing and casting is no problem. I've had mine for about 6 months now. Biggest fish was a 3.5 pound hybrid bass that I had to crank out of the weeds. I broke my T-rig set up last week so I have started using this for soft plastics. 4" tubes and 7.5" weightless worms I had to trouble throwing them either. The rod is a good rod. Not a high dollar ro by any means, but stout. Mine has just enough bounce in the tip to thow 5" wacky rigged Senkos with ease. The rod does not have a hook keeper on it which kinda sucks. I like the split grip too. I dont care weather I have foam or cork so the foam grip is cool with me. For 60 buck I'd grab ahold and not look back. This combo was originally 139 bucks from Bass Pro last year.
  19. Crikey thats a fish
  20. Only one thing could come from Lawrence Kansas in an envelope like this!!!!! I've only been paying on these for an entire year. Section #11 seats #16 and #17.........ROW TWO BABY!!!!!
  21. My 5 year old holds more PB's on wiper, striper and walleye by "sleeping at the reel" than I do. I'm starting to think the pros are full of it on all these techniques. I think the key to big fish is having your dad cast the pole in, swat at butter flies and ramble on about what Dora or the Power Rangers next voyage will be!
  22. That black/white combo looks down right sexy. I was thinking a winch reel with those black and white reel grips lol.
