  1. I like the Avid X better. I prefer the split grip and I don't fish braid so the micros are of no concern . You can buy a $60 Favorite with SIC's ..
  2. Being a Table Rock guy I have to choose the Pre Rapala wart first. I throw it every time as long as i can get it to them with it. When they move out some, the Rk Crawler runs deeper although I think it hangs up more than a wart. One that doesn't get talked about as much is the discontinued RC 1.5dd and deep little N . They are about the last option before they get off a crankbait . Since Blue already mentioned it, the Lucy E Strike bait was really good , They called it the Wart Hog at first and got sued over the name . If you can find a few that don't leak they are worth picking up.
  3. Two different companies. Arkrod in Harrison made the rods for Falcon and I believe Denali and I'm sure others. I thought they had closed but maybe not. Ark Fishing in Florida sells the Ark branded rods. They are made off shore. Louie used to be involved with Halo
  4. I too have way more stickbait rods than I need but I have 2 I really like even though they are different action wise. The Witch Doctor Surman 50 G and the St.Croix MXF Topwater rod. Personally I like the tip on the Topwater version better than the model they label as Jerkrbait.
  5. Like Jig Man said, It's a winter time /pre spawn deal. Here in Missouri we only use 3 hooks so on the top 2 baits I either cut the hooks off the jig heads or use hitchhikers. I like a fairly light wire hook so I can straighten them when the thing gets hung up. Also I use a bigger swimbait on the center wire, it's the one that gets bit most of the time anyway. Just put something like 2.8's on the teasers. Something smaller like the Flash mob JR. you can throw on your jig rod.
  6. Is that the Teckle version ?
  7. Mine was in a box also.
  8. I've got a couple Vixen's and a Repo Man. With the prices headed north of $100 I think about selling them but I may regret it and like pre Rapala warts the prices aren't coming down.
  9. I'm a big fan of the War Eagle Screamin' Eagle. It's a 1/2oz head with a 1/4 oz. size frame and blades.
  10. The X simply means they don't have Mapping. Other than that no difference. The Striker also does not have mapping ,just basic GPS. I believe the Hook 2 has a card slot to run Navionics if you prefer. The striker doesn't . which Hook 2 unit have you ran ?
  11. I can't imagine a simpler unit to run than the hook 2 and Elite. I've had Humminbird and the SI is probably the best. To me Lowrance has the best 2d and DI is a push.. I personally vertical fish with 2d so on the TM I'm more concerned with that and Mapping than DI. I split the screen with maps to see wayponts and 2D.
  12. I wouldn't worry. I have the Elite on my TM , Granted its a model up from the hook but To me Lowrance has the best 2d sonar. I've had Garmin and Humminbirds also and honestly they are all good. If I had my dream set up I'd probably run a Bird just for the mapping and Lowrance along side it on the console.
  13. The split shot Transducer is much smaller and would mount on the trolling motor. Personally I can't see the advantage to side imaging on the trolling motor. Usually you need to be moving faster than I would normally run the trolling motor to get a good SI image.
  14. BPS has or did have the Hook 2 9 inch triple shot with US mapping on sale for $ 499. It's last years model without fish reveal but it's a steal at that price. They may have the 12 also. I don't think they can share waypoints between units.
  15. They are really nice. The jig head they sell to go with the craw is nice as well.
  16. Plain and simple... wrong, But maybe it's different up north.
  17. Sounds like me
  18. I'm sure your correct
  19. Just goes to show...If there's one hook I detest it's the KVD..different strokes. I've caught a couple on a stickbait too.
  20. The new Bagleys are no where near the bait the Originals were. Anyway, The Black Labels are pretty good at a reasonable price. Also, Jaw jacker, Brian's B's, Ira C and if you can find one without taking out a second Mortgage the WEC's
  21. No. It aint the hook. But if you want to try a good stickbait with a different hook go buy a couple Mc Sticks , they look like Gammy round bends .
  22. Well, which bait would you rather fish ? If your happy with the Rogue look at all the money you can save ! If you want the 110 to work as MB intended stick with the Katsauge. Personally, Ill take the action of 110 and change a hook every once in a while. Remember they were designed to be fished on 6 or 8 lb. line in Japan, hence the light wire.
  23. I always replace them with the same hooks. They can be a touch brittle but I like them. I've heard the death traps are a good replacement but I've never tried them.
  24. Great hooks, TW carries them . I would replace them with the same Katsauge. If you've got 75 fish to bite I wouldn't be too upset. Especially on a jerkbait this time of year.
  25. Redfin, Berkley Surge Shad, 6th sense speed shad and the discontinued strike king wake shad.
