If it is his boat, you're at the mercy of his rules. You could always politely pass along the same suggestion you're making here. Second option would be find a new fishin' buddy if you guys aren't on the same "level".

Try my suggestion before you jump to conclusions. You obviously haven't. Otherwise. ...don't buy the lure anymore. Pretty simple.

x2. 3/8 is the best for me. Sinks at a nice rate and you can fish it slow without it hanging up in the weeds. Add a Rage Twin tail menace and you're dynamite.

Try coating your soft swimbaits with Megastrike. It will lubricate them reducing tear. And buy a bottle of Mend-it and thank us later.

Sounds like the spring under the tension knob isn't set properly. Check that first.

Popmax Cicada on the right (no split ring). 3 on the left are Popmax knock offs. Came with split rings, but I will test to see if I like it with or without. I got the customs last year late in teh year and have not fished them yet.
