  1. I thought the same thing but their sexy dogs, poppers, kvd jerkbaits are hc as well. Heavy cover doesn't quite add up to me.
  2. Great.....now I have to try it since you put me on Double.
  3. I believe HC stands for Hard Crankbait just for SKU purposes as HC is applied to everything from Jerkbaits to Topwaters. I don't believe the flats have rattles but I may be wrong. i'm not expert with their products but I do love the SK cranks myself.
  4. I got the same rod a few months ago. I am absolutely dying to try it out. I haven't even got to use it yet but I can already tell I'm going to love it. I prefer glass with cranking so that was my decision to that way. Some guys like graphite and in todays rods I think both will serve you just fine. Glass is a bit more forgiving especially if you fish like me with hard hooksets. I'm not much of a "finesse" guy.
  5. STX would not be ideal, at least not for me. You could easily spool out a traditional bait caster using big heavy baits with thick diameter line. I use a Curado 300 DSV. It has a big wide spool with a lot of line capacity. I prefer low profile over round and that is just preference. A nice cheap round reel to get started would be Cardiff 300-400. You can even find them on Ebay used for ~$60-$75. The Lexa 300's are another popular low-profile if you prefer to go that route. I think Speed uses one or two if I'm not mistaken. The Bassin' swimbait guys (most) are anti braid. I've been throwing large baits for musky with braid for years and have never had issues. The reason braid is frowned on is because of the 0 shock absorbency and the possibility of snapping your line at the lure. Part of it has to do with people trying to launch a huge bait across the entire lake with everything they've got. Like I said, it's never happened to me. I also fish with heavy fluoro leaders or steel/titanium depending on the lure and water. There are a few of the cheaper swimbaits I tie direct and take my chances within the pike waters I fish. There is absoultely nothing wrong with using a heavy mono or copoly but I just prefer braid because I'm used to throwing it. I can also get more line on with braid. My .02
  6. yes it will. I have the LE Freestyle Green Gizzard shad too. Looks amazing in the water. I only got to fish it twice before winter.
  7. Your ninja throwing stars are easier to dodge than buckshot. Just sayin...
  8. His 5 minute penalty was for undoing the life jacket before his engine was turned off from what I understood of it. If you watch FLW or BASS you'll notice when guys run to spots and are in a hurry, they will jump up and take off their jackets as they're coming off of plane kind of in the same fashion he did. I think it's habit especially when running and gunning. Heck, I've done it and I don't even fish competitively (except in my head, lol). Just stupid penalty overall if you ask me.
  9. Yea, that 5 minute penalty was just dumb. They can do away with that rule and you're right, he looked really annoyed. If the running was any closer or he wasn't in the position he was in I bet he'd been even more steamed. I also noticed that it appeared his official wasn't moving fast enough to get the scale for his liking. He was on a mission to say the least.
  10. Or it would just be MLF featuring Aaron Martens. I like your ideas as a viewer. I'm sure the anglers would be cursing up a storm. Especially someone like Ish who's throwing a frog or pitching slop any chance he can. I overly enjoyed this MLF on Hubbard because it wasn't a dock flipping shallow water beat down like most of these events have been. Good to see off shore jerkbait and drop shotting. I also think there are a few guys in MLF that should be swapped for better/more competitive talent. One being Velvick......I just don't understand... Nothing wrong with the guy and he has history, but he is not on par with that playing field. There are a couple others as well. just my .02
  11. I don't have one yet either. I have to believe that oiling every three outings is a mistake as well. It just doesn't make sense to me and if anyone feels it does, please give a thorough report on the "why". So far all I've read is rave reviews. I'll own one or more for sure, just a matter of when. Hooti has one. Except he only uses it to torment his neighborhood cats. A ball of yarn would have been a lot cheaper but arguably not nearly as fun.
  12. I was shot at intentionally. He did hit anyone but his buck shot landed about 3 feet from our boat. I had a thread here talking about it, I'll edit this post and put the link in. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/106570-fishermenwaterfowl-hunter-clashyour-take/?hl=%2Bduck+%2Bhunter
  13. Welcome to BR! Go Hawks!
  14. There is a big selection of Power Pro on overstockbait . I believe today $25.00 or more orders are free shipping. Might be able to save a buck or two there if you prefer to online shop.

  16. Getting shot at by a duck hunter....
  17. That's the about extent of my better half. I did get her to throw a hollow belly swimbait off the dock last year while we were just hanging out. I could tell she was enjoying it. Maybe when my little ones are old enough she will participate more.
  18. I do the same, except I throw them in my ice cube holder. I'm pretty much the only one that uses ice at home. Last weekend my future mother-in-law had a glass of water and ice and while she was drinking it I asked her if that was heavy ice. It took her a while to realize what the heck I was talking about.
  19. Original bag in my BPS worm binders. I dip them in JJ's clear to maintain the color I purchased.
  20. I got some sipping stones for Xmas. They're awesome! Highly recommend it as well.
  21. You'll be good on the rod. You'll find that in the future if you pursue it more you'll want a rod in the 7'6" or bigger. It's easier to throw bigger baits and do figure 8's at the boat. I use 80# braid with either Fluoro or steel leader depending on lure and water I'm in. I'll use 65# braid if I'm throwing smaller lures like the baby cowgirls or smaller jerkbaits and bulldogs. Have fun!
  22. The rod is more of a factor on the ability to throw certain size lures, not your reel. You can throw a cement block with a reel if you can find a rod that will wing it. The issue with the 250 is spool size. Do you have any idea of the line diameter you're planning to use? If you use too small of a diameter of line, you'll more than likely snap off your lures when you cast at some point. If you go with that reel for dedicated musky set up, make sure you get a rod that can handle the bigger glide baits and that big jackpot (topwater). Or you're going to be asking how to repair the tip of your rod. The bucktails look to be on the smaller size so you should be ok but you will get a work out using that reel throwing that stuff. At minimum, put a power handle on the reel to make it easier on you. If you end up exhausting yourself fishing for musky with under rated gear, you're going to hate it and not want to go after them. Do it with the right gear, and you will love it when the reward of 40"+ fish are following your lures to the boat. It's an amazing experience watching musky behave the way they do.
  23. X2. Looks awesome!
  24. It depends on what you're going to throw for musky. If you throw smaller bucktails or smaller bulldogs it'll be ok. Also, that reels spool is a bit on the small side for my liking for musky fishing. I like to have a bigger spool for long casts with the bigger baits. Can you use it.....yes but probably not the most ideal for dedicated musky fishing. It's a great deal for $50.00 so you should snag it while you can. I'd be looking at a 300 or bigger series reel. You'll be in the larger diameter lines for musky so it's going to consume that reel capacity quick. You'll get a few opinions here, this is just one of them.
