  1. 1. Did you see that they were actually bass? Or how do you know for sure it is bass? Only reason I ask is because panfish will do exactly this.... 2. Try an attractant like JJ's or Megastrike. Might be enough for them to committ fully on it just from a little taste. Doesn't hurt to try.
  2. The Chicago Blackhawks parade is on pretty soon Bruins fans. You should tune in.
  3. I have 5 mojos and love them all. you will be happy with the rod. I can't speak for any of the other items you got but have fun. Post some results.
  4. Just remember if you're hung up to point the tip of your rod at the snag and pull back. A bad snag with braid can turn out to be a broken rod if you're not careful.
  5. I think that is a very fair and respectable view of the topic Crestliner. I think of the large swimbaits for bass to be just like fishing for trophy musky. You're not going to get bit every hour...or day perhaps..sometimes weeks. But when you do, it is very rewarding as big baits do attract big fish. So just as you said, if you enjoy it...go for it. If a person rather catch numbers then perhaps this isn't the technique best suited for that fishermen. Great discussion so far, and great information!
  6. Family lake house is a shade under 3 hours for me. I fish areas with in 1 hour travel time of there. In IL, I fish shore bound fox river 15-20 minute driving distance or Lake Michigan 50 min to 2 hours....depending on the dreadful traffic.
  7. Are you pulling the fish in at shore by handling the rod in the upper 1/2 of the blank? If so you're putting more stress on the rod that way. Or you're catching monster bass and trying to lift them out. I've broken only one rod in my life which was earlier this year. My error completely. Tried to swing a 3.5lb fish in and grabbed too high up the blank and it snapped. It was a medium action.
  8. Man that was a steal. Its a bigger reel. I use mine for a small musky set up but I'm converting it to my large swimbait rig because I'm envious of the pigs Speedbead and Ajay catch. No in all serious ness its sitting without a rod because I don't musky fish nearly as much. Time to put it to use. Need a rod first though so that is ehere my next purchase is going. Along with some expensive swimbaits!
  9. I have one. Phenomenal reel. I'd bought both without blinking as long as they were in good condition.
  10. I have 5 of them and yet to break one. I think maybe you're horsing the fish a bit too much. I've caught decent size pike and musky without breaking any. Are you swinging the fish in the boat?
  11. I think he was just elaborating on how strict they are with the show. Business is business
  12. That would cost a pretty penny to create and considering this site is FREE of use thanks to the sponsors, not sure that'd be in the plan. Nice idea but probably unlikely unless they had paid membership.
  13. Glenn, should you happen to come down with a serious case of Montezuma's Revenge, I will gladly step in your place and wear your badge with honor.
  14. Bass RESOURCE has a mobile version of the forums so having an app would not really be of any benefit. What would you want on an app that isn't currently available viewing through the web?
  15. Loosen your drag up and use your thumb more. I throw 20lb braid on a baitcaster all the time and as long as you back of the drag you should be ok.
  16. This...even 15-20lb braid will get you down there.
  17. Your focus first should be your career (non-fishing)...second fishing. Figure out what you want to do for the rest of your life in case the professional fishing thing collapses. Because like any professional sport, the chances of making it are slim. Not saying you can't or won't but you need to build that in the equation. Getting into a college with a great fishing program is a bonus. Good luck with your journey.
  18. Hawks in 6! Yeaaaaaa baby. Outstanding series. Great hockey played.
  19. Gear ratio of the reel is more of a deep diving crankbait reel. Probably not the best if you're going to be throwing a lot of square bills but it'll work. You can always swap the two from each other as you upgrade. Ive never used the rod or reel you described so I can't tell you accurately if you got the best bang for your buck. Like Arv said, if you like it..fish it.
  20. You can use braid on just about any reel. Are you using a spinning reel or baitcasting? Suggestions: Shimano Symetre if spinning. 15lb 832 or PP Shimano Citica if baitcasting 30-40lb 832 or PP BPS Pro Qualifier runner up choice
  21. I predictedHawks in 6.....but will we seal the deal tonight!? Game time is 4 hours away. GO HAWKS!
  22. Yes sir. That clears up a whole lot John. I appreciate the feed back. Those won't come flying off with a small diameter line huh? Guess I'm going to have to trust it.
  23. So you're meant to tie the knot just above the rounder portion (closer to the weight) so that if you're hung up it will clip the line and in return save the hook/bait? Am I understanding that right? Why do I feel like 10lb braid would slip its way through it, or am i wrong.
  24. What is the idea behind the self-cinch clip on a drop shot weight? Typically on the cylindrical style weights. I was looking for a good article online to explain this but found nothing. The only thing I can think of is so the knot won't travel around the eyelet however tying the weights with fluoro have actually snapped when cinching to the self-cinch type. Please....educate me today.
  25. I've never used Fluoro past 17lb...and even that got annoying. I have never tried Sunline but I have been happy with the fluoros from Seaguar. You might need to give it some more aggressive treatments. I only use fluoro on my crankbait rods and braid for almost everything else. Mono for jerkbait, topwater set up.
