  1. Active days big splash....tough days subtle for me.
  2. I use a mini mag light, but I also have a hat clip on led light if I need hands free.
  3. I use just a single Palomar. Never fails so no need to change
  4. A friend of mine managed to snag two snapping turtles in the middle of a mating session. Not intentionally. Ive caught frogs and turtles. And once I found a tshirt knotted up and stuffed with drugs. Other than that nothing really bizarre.
  5. Nice man. Congrats
  6. I use a scent free and oil free spf 50 from Coppertone. Works really good.
  7. Palomar knot is what I use on all braid to lure/rig.
  8. As much as fun it is to see them jump, try to keep them under. Every jump creates slack line and if they have a weak hookset the will most certainly shake it. I've lost countless smallies just by letting them jump...so I really try my best to keep them under to land them. Keep at it, you'll figure it out. Best of luck
  9. Pumpkinseed would be my guess. We have a ton of stunted little ones like that in my lake that vary from really dark to the brighter shades of orange/blue.
  10. SMB have tougher mouths than a largemouth. So either more of a hookset or try swapping out the hooks. More than likely if you swap them out you'll solve your issue. I never really have too much problem with my stock KVD hooks until they need changing or I straighten one out on a log or something. Did you see the hooks in the mouth? They may have just been skin hooked from swiping at it and not eating it. Just a thought...
  11. As long as you can manage the small diameter of 20# then you're perfectly fine. Make sure you back off your drag a bit. No stretch so you need a little forgiveness. Have fun!
  12. Welcome Lenny!
  13. Not sure about that specific bait but SK has a series of night spinner baits that are pretty good. Alternative in case you come up empty
  14. Nice fish man! Worth the stop and the ear full at home i bet!
  15. I'm certain that almost all of my Shimano reels do the same. I wouldn't worry about it to be honest. You can try what RM said. If not you'll be just fine or the next time you do a little maintenance you can try to snug it up. Enjoy that new baby! You're going to love it.
  16. Too heavy for my liking. I'd go with 10lb or 12lb max. You can use what you got, but next time try a down size and see what works better for you.
  17. It will take 6-8 weeks to get the stuff. Your magazine just gets put in the subscription flow like everyone else. If you don't see it in the next 3-4 weeks I'd call in.

I was under the impression that when red hooks were designed it was to add a "bleeding" look to the lure. As mentioned, it won't disappear at depths. I have red hooks and I have regular. I use the regular way more and I have never seen a difference in using red. Confidence.
  19. Run it parallel to the lily pad edge or if you have weed cutters on the lake, throw them down the channels it creates. Fun bait to fish. I don't use them that much but I did a lot when I was a kid.
  20. 6.x.1 will be just fine with square bill cranks.
  21. My roboworms do not float initially either which is rather disappointing. They float better after an extended time in the water but proven to be far longer than I'd like my first bite to be. I might try to presoak them to see if that helps. I really like Dream Shots from SK. They don't float but are super light and have a great slow fall. Tear up really easy though.
  22. That's it. Thank you for the info. Raider you should try this if you really got a need for something.
  23. I started dipping my plastics in clear jjs this year. No dyes yet for me as I like my natural colors. I will say, I feel like the hold from the fish is better and the initial retreat with the bait seems more violent?
  24. Attractant is the marketing term in my eyes. I feel the same as I think the fish hold longer vs a naked bait.
  25. I've been lucky enough to snipe out some items. I watch everything down to the last minutes before bidding. JFrancho sent me a link to something a while back that helps you win bids but I think for a fee. Guess I'd only use that out of desperation. Maybe he can chime in to clarify. I saved about $150 on 3 reelsthis past winter buying on ebay.
