  1. A boat to me is the ultimate disposable income purchase. It costs money to buy, maintain and use and it will never repay you what you put in from a monetary standpoint. Lots of options that are affordable and get you off the bank. When I was looking for a boat I took a look at the area I lived and made the determination that a kayak would suit me best. I have had quite a few over the years and motorized it this year. I do want to get a boat that I can take my kids out on eventually and fishing as much as I have I know what would be best in my area and my style of fishing. Now I just gotta get about 25K of disposable income available and it will be a reality No rush for me though.... great advice already given on this thread so I won't rehash that stuff.
  2. I am gonna be getting to tying here soon but I gotta get all the Christmas decorations up and my garage/tying area straightened up. I also need to focus more because I have a tough time sticking to one pattern because I am always tinkering lol. I really want to do some more crayfish imitations but I have a **** load of clawdads already and they do well for me.
  3. Looks fantastic @guidoStow
  4. Bread is without question the most important part of any sandwich in my opinion. The other stuff matters of course but without a solid bread, it ruins everything .
  5. cold water river fishing for me is more about location than the bait itself. The times I figure them out and where they are it doesn't matter what I throw as long as it sits in front of them long enough.
  6. Same here. I never understood the secrecy that a lot of people have around fishing, especially on a small pond. Who cares, we are all out to have fun so why not share the wealth.
  7. Lee's Hoagie House Curlys As far as chains go Jersey Mike's and Wawa are decent. Local mom & pop places are 99% of the time better though
  8. I am a bicentennial baby and when I moved from VA to El Paso in 2000, I went with cell only and have been that way ever since. I did have to keep a land line for DSL internet back then but I don't think I even had a phone number to go along with it.
  9. you still have a land line phone? wow
  10. cold is fine and muddy is fine but cold and muddy I haven't had much success. Current breaks and tight to cover are the only places I have found them in moving water.
  11. Never weighed my stuff but it can only weigh so much since I carry it all in a milk crate in my kayak.
  12. Carp are not called the golden bonefish for nothing. If I see them tailing when I am out bass fishing, they automatically become my primary target for that day. I have had more success with them on the fly rod than conventional gear. I know this past years Brood X cicada hatch had them going crazy and people were catching them all day long, and big ones too. I couldn't make it out to fish it though unfortunately.
  13. that is a pretty cool rig. I am on a couple skiff social media pages and the boats on there are crazy. Makes me want to fish saltwater
  14. I have a couple weeks off but I don't think the family would approve of me taking off for a cross country road trip
  15. Looks good man. I tied my first fly in about 4 months the other night. Didn't have anything in mind, just playing around and seeing what I could do. Came up with this....single joint and tied on a 2/0 EWG worm hook and a few wraps of lead on the belly to ride hook up.
  16. I carry what I need and don't have any issues. I carry up to 8 rods if fishing conventional and 4 fly rods if going fly only. I also carry probably 8 plano 3600 boxes with whatever I need. I've learned over the years of kayak fishing that I would rather switch rods than take the time to retie on another rod. Sure there are days I don't cast a rod but I am cool with that. I already can't cover enough water as a traditional boat so every additional cast counts.
  17. I have had minor issues with all the major carriers but nothing drastic. Fed Ex is no better or worse than any of the others. USPS was bad for a while when they removed all the extra people or whatever it was around election time but since, it hasn't been that bad.
  18. Any boats weight capacity isn't going to make it sink as soon as it hits that limit but performance will suffer as more of the hull is in the water than was designed to be. Motors really aren't that heavy but the batteries can be which is why I went Lithium.
  19. What would make it more valuable in addition to what was used to catch is how many different baits were used that day and how many casts per lure.
  20. If you can mount a micro power pole, you can mount the motor. They use the same 4 bolt set up. It does look like they drilled into the hull though and if you have access or can gain access to that area, a backing plate can be added and you would be good to go. 21. Dime=perfect 10 Basketball it has always been assists. tyrone hill is the captain of the all ugly
  22. For rivers I’d never mount a tm up front. I put a NK80S on the stern on mine last year and couldn’t be happier. Almost 6mph on lakes and 3+ upstream on rivers. I had the kayak already and spent 1500 on motor and lithium batteries. I think a lot of people try kayak fishing as the new fad and realize the limitations combined with kayaks for fishing sacrificing speed for stability. I got mine primarily for river use to do solo shuttles basically.
  23. Awesome. He will love it
  24. Man, I think you need to stop wading lol. I am glad you are ok again though.
  25. No stickers for me. I do throw them on my tying bench and tool box though when I get some free ones from al the crap I buy.
