My Friends First Bass ,
Congrats on your friends first bass! My wife caught her first this season as well. It was almost as rewarding for me as it was for her.

Collecting Night Crawlers
Haven't done it since I was little but my dad used to have what he called a 'lightning rod'. It may have been home-made. The thing looked pretty sketchy now that I think back. It was a steel rod with a wooden handle wrapped in black electrical tape and an old beat up extension cord. Plug it in, rod goes into the ground, and the worms squirm up to the surface.

Bacon Or Cheese
Wow man...bacon or cheese...what kind of a question is that? How do you even choose? There are just too many delicious things that have both. Bacon cheese burgers, mac and cheese with bacon bits, my wife makes BBQ chicken breasts wrapped with bacon strips with melted cheddar cheese that's out of this world. Imagine never having nachos and cheese or a BLT ever again. I read this last night and couldn't make up my mind. Told myself I'd sleep on it and decide in the morning. Well I still can't decide so I guess I'm gonna have to fish on it.

What Do You Think? Is This The Same Fish?
Either way, Ill take a fish like that any day whether its the same one or not. This little patch of lily pads has really been producing for me over the past couple of weeks. Too bad it'll be too overgrown to fish from the bank soon.

Am I The Only One Who Hates Not Fishing Out Of My Own Boat?
This guy I work with and fish with sometimes just got his own boat. Nothing fancy. Just a little 12 foot Jon Boat. He asked his neighbor if he knew anyone that was selling one and the neighbor takes him around back, shows him the boat, and just says 'go ahead, take it'. So once he gets it registered and all Ill be going on my first bass fishing trips not from the bank. Pretty excited for that. Its gonna open up new water for me on the lakes I regularly fish and entirely new bodies of water that I wouldn't be able to fish from the bank. Since I don't have much gear to begin with, I don't have to worry about not taking enough or taking up too much space on his boat. Ill just bring 1 or 2 rods and my tackle bag. I can't wait but I still enjoy beating the banks with my wife.

A Few Of My Custom Airbrushed Crankbaits
Those are nice looking. I really like the 3rd one. Question...do you make the actual crankbait itself as well or do you just buy blanks and airbrush them or how does that work?

Hookset For Treble Hooked Topwaters
I know for frogs your supposed to wait 2 or 3 seconds before the hookset but what about lures like poppers or spooks? Do you wait for those too or just set when you see the strike or what?

Spring Has Sprung,,, And The Bite Is On
Nice fish! I don't even want to think about fishing around that many other people. 9 out of 10 times I go out, I'm the only one at the lake and I wouldn't want it any other way.

Best Time For A Crank Bait?????
There are all kinds of different retrieves you can use. Cast it out and start reeling then stop for a couple seconds and let the bait float up a bit before starting to reel again. Or you could reel until you bang off some kind of cover and then pause for a second. It'll look like a small fish ran into a log and got stunned for a second. The perfect opportunity for a hungry bass. Or try fishing a crankbait designed for deeper water than your fishing. For example, if you fish a bait that dives 8 feet in 4 feet of water, you can dig in and stir up the bottom. Just be wary of snags. Then again, you could always just cast it out and burn it back in. Another thing you can do is to move your rod tip back and forth while reeling, say from about 10 o'clock to 2 o'clock making the bait change directions slightly. Remember, baitfish usually don't swim in a strait line. Change it up till you get bit and then try and duplicate what you were doing when the fish hit it.

What Do You Think? Is This The Same Fish?
I didn't really notice or even think about it at the time. I just thought it was odd that it looked to be about the same exact size and was caught right around the same area. In hindsight, maybe I should have took the second picture up against my rod like the first one. Would have made for a better comparison.
