  1. Thanks. I got the Palomar a couple times in a row. Gonna keep working on it. What do you mean? Like you go through once and then loop it around and come through again before tying the rest of the knot?
  2. Maybe I just have to work at it more. I tried the Berkley Braid knot and got it right a couple times. Wanna make sure I get some kind of knot down good. Don't wanna be losing lures cuz of bad knots.
  3. I guess its more of a problem with me rather than the palomar. Ive just never used it before and Im not so good with knots. All Ive ever used is Improved Clinch on mono. Thanks. Im gonna look into the Berkley Braid Knot.
  4. I know I know....dumb question. But this is my first time using braid and Im having some trouble with the palomar. Any other braided line knot suggestions would be great.
  5. Wow man....that thing is beasty!
  6. My little brother just gave me one of these. He bought, tried it and then never used it again cuz he said it was a pain the the ass. This will be my first baitcaster and Im pretty excited to try it out. I just wish he had taken better care of it. I don't know how you get mud all over a reel you hardly used. It still reels good though. Im gonna clean it up as best I can and if I have any problems, Ill think about sending it out to DVT and have them take a look at it. Now Im off to the video section to check out Glenn's video and learn how to use this thing.
  7. I love it when my old topics come back up. The lakes I fish are all shallow (less than 10 feet) so the bass can most likely see red hooks. I bought a pack or 2 of red ones but most are just black or nickel or whatever the standard hook colors are. I agree that its probably more of a proper presentation/lure selection that entices a bass to strike. Ill check the video out later on tonight. Thanks for that Felix.
  8. WTG on an awesome fish!
  9. X's 2 on Zoom. Also BPS has some plastic kits with 20+ baits in various colors for reasonable prices.
  10. Im pretty sure you just post the URL and the site embeds the video in the post automatically. I think thats what Ive done in the past. Give it a try. Can't hurt.
  11. All I got was a lot of wind and a little rain. TV and radio was talking about 'Snow-mageddon' and what not. Not that Im dissapointed. The only way I like snow is when we get a couple feet and I can go out and wrestle with my dog in it. A couple inches is just enough to mess the roads up and get on your nerves.
  12. Hello and welcome!
  13. I went fishing and crabbinng in the Chesapeake Bay a lot with my dad when I was little but we kinda grew apart as I got older. My little brother introduced me to bass fishing around July of last year and Im soooo glad he did. Its one of the most enjoyable things in my like right now. Looking forward to honing my skills and landing many quality fish!
  14. Thats why it was just the one time. Didn't really think about what I was getting into til he got going. Almost ran over a couple people and almost hit a few trees. Didn't wanna hold on but didn't wanna let go cuz there were lots of other people and dogs in the park. Not that he has a problem with other dogs but you never know how the other dog is gonna be. Sometimes he can get a little over-friendly and over playful and the other dogs don't always like that.
  15. X's 2 on that. I wanna say I get what you mean but I know that I couldn't possibly without having served myself. My Uncle fought in Viet Nam. I don't talk to him much so I don't know a whole lot about where and when but I know it messed with him pretty bad mentally and emotionally. When he got back he hiked the Appalacian Trail from Maine back down here to Maryland to help clear his mind and find some peace. But anyway, Im starting to ramble so Ill just say thank you for your service.
  16. Not really a movie but the History Channel had a series a few years back called 'Shootout'. It was like dramatizations of first hand accounts of actual gun battles from WW2 up through the present day. I also like 'Dogfights'. Same principle but it was plane battles.
  17. Ha! I love their little booties! Ive put a harness on my aussie and let him pull me around on my rollerblades before.
  18. Welcome to BR!
  19. Hello and welcome!
  20. Congrats! I went out this morning for about an hour and a half and got nothing. I guess they gotta start biting sooner or later.
  21. Hello and welcome!
  22. Thats it right there. I liked Phantom Menace but even with the better action, Hayden Christensen pretty much killed the other 2 for me. He was just so, I dunno, bland. I think for me, the 70's and 80's movie technology is what made the original ones so awesome. Im interested (and a little worried) to see what Disney is going to do now that they own the rights to Star Wars.
  23. Good looking fish...nice job!
