  1. I did learn how to skip some . I got to use it one day this spring when fishing a culvert that was obstructed by overhanging vegetation . I skipped a z-man Popshadz way back in there , like a pro and caught several bass .
  2. Beats me . I have a few old ones but not in the sought after colors . They still catch fish .
  3. I'm glad my wife doesnt like to fish . I'd never get any peace and quiet. We go on a fishing vacation , she sits at the cottage or back of the boat and reads .
  4. I dont have a lot of experience winter bass fishing .It gets cold , I usually dont fish .Then one day last December I went and did not get bite out on the points with blade baits and such but caught 10 shallow in brush using a jerkbait .
  5. I'm in agreement with @Team9nine . When I fish a elec motor only lake I fish my way from spot to spot , not throwing a lot of different lures , sometimes just one . If you're a kayaker you're probably doing a lot of junk fishing .
  6. I learned where two hidden brush-piles are at .
  7. Spinnerbait , chatterbait , lipless crank ,
  8. Does Swindle have a lower hook up percentage? Okay I found the video . I use to set the hook like Swindle but this past year I switched to the Tharp hookset .
  9. Thats the video I was referring to .
  10. This is the hookset I've been trying to copy .
  11. For decades I crossed their eyes with a hard hook set . This year I experimented with the Greg Hacney hookset . Feel the fish on there , then lean back hard . Watch the youtube video "Greg Hackney: Why I Don't Miss Jig Bites"
  12. I know of a restaurant was selling pollock as walleye .
  13. I was at Sams earlier and they had walleye fillets for 11 dollars a lb . I like walleyes and was going to buy some . Then I read from the North Atlantic . Whats up with that ? Is there a salt water walleye ?
  14. I have caught multitudes of bass on a blue berry jelly worm and still throw them a lot . They use to be a staple color like pumpkin is today . I dont get why anglers stopped using them but thats okay with me .
  15. I have noticed more people fishing on my favorite spots . The bass have gotten a lot more weary and dont stick around as long as they use too . I'll often catch one on the fist cast and then they disappear . Its gotten to the point where I hesitate throw a crankbait. They seem to spook the fish . Less belligerent baits dont chase them away as readily .
  16. It should make no difference if your lakes have shad or not . Shad patterned lures should still produce along with the others you mentioned .
  17. I fish a lot of Texas rigs . One day I got on the lake and discovered I forgot to bring my soft plastics . So digging around I found a pack of dark brown Original Fatz Gizits . Thats all I had , so Texas rigged them and didnt miss a beat , catching largemouth both deep and shallow that day using them .
  18. A lime green worm . I have only had a couple of packs and both times went through them all in one day . Its a color that I havent found since . The first pack were Fliptail worms and the second pack , I dont remember .
  19. I usually dont use Texas rigs or weedless jigs in rip rap . They are not needed . The lures get wedged in the rocks not snag . A worm on a jig head or jig without a weed guard works better for me . I like a fat senko style worm with a jig head that is smaller than the worm diameter , like some swim bait heads .
  20. Stay alert and opened minded . One time in early winter a friend and I were fishing and it was snowing heavily . We were being skunked but in the back of a pocket bass had shad corralled on the surface . We caught several there on a buzzbait . It hasnt happened since .
  21. I am in the process of selling my small business , so I have not found time to fish for a few weeks now . Come this spring I will be retired for the second time and I foresee a lot of fishing and camp-fires .
  22. Spooks never performed well for me either .Too many misses not enough hook-ups . I havent thrown one in quite awhile but thats okay . Other lures take up the slack .
  23. Its about angles. Think of the rip rap as the strike zone . A long billed crankbait will remain in the strike zone through almost the entire retrieve if thrown at the correct angle , from shallow to deep . A 45 degree angle is a good starting point . If fish are being caught at a certain depth , then that depth can be concentrated on . When fishing from bank a sinking lure can follow the contour/strike zone through the entire retrieve by going from deep to shallow .
  24. The rivets are soft and easy to bend. Next time I'm going to drill a small hole in a board , just big enough to slide the rivet in , then tap the lip flat with a hammer .
  25. Other than my own Lunker Lures are my favorites .
