  1. I still have a box .
  2. Lizards work well all year . I use to fish with them more than any other soft plastic . Cousin and I won a 500 boat team tourney throwing nothing but lizards for two days . That was in September .
  3. I love fishing like that .When my dad was alive , I had a camper on Mississippi river back-water protected by a levee . We sat there all the time listening to the ball game and catching catfish and carp . I became quite the carp master. Made dough balls , invented a rig inspired by European carp anglers . It was a blast . I dont look down on carp .
  4. I usually fish by myself . so I position the boat for me . I dont have to switch arms , I have been doing it a bit , just for kicks .
  5. You guys are a lot more knowledgeable about hooks than I . I'm still going to touch them up , when needed, with a diamond file , like I have been doing for a long time .
  6. Inexpensive flipping sticks made for bass are great catfish/carp rods . I use one from Bass Pro . I dont know if they still make it or not because the web site is not functioning . As far as a reel I use old Quantum 1310 MG. Most any used working bait caster will suffice .
  7. If I didnt enjoy myself successful or not , then I would give up too .
  8. I dont fish winter . I do fish late fall and early spring . Jigs seem to work better at those times . Maybe its because of the slower fall that I usually get with a jig than a worm . Mid autumn , like right now , I still rely on worms mostly .
  9. It seems to me that Bass like to hang around stuff post frontal or not . The deep fish may tend to suspend but the shallow fish are still close to stuff .
  10. I see his point . Its fast becoming an elitest sport .
  11. If the fishing is tough and the weather is bad then giving up is an easy decision to make . If the fishing is tough and its a nice day then keep on keeping on .Maybe luck will change maybe not . Its just good to be fishing .
  12. Years ago I was squirrel hunting with my dog . Walking through the woods there was all kinds of commotion all around us . Dont know what it was but the dog ended up between my legs . Coyotes I presume . I told a cub scout troop a scary story at a camp out . About trapped miners , who dug their way out . They were trapped so long that their eyes bugged out with tiny black pupils . I then turned away and said they may still be out there meanwhile slyly popping ping pong ball halves with black dots into my eye sockets, then turned back around . It scared one camper so bad he didnt sleep that night .
  13. I'm looking at that Zebco Cardinal . I wanted one bad but had to settle for cheaper reels .
  14. I have never been able to do that with a tandem spinnerbait . I use to bubble the Bass Buster Scorpion with limited success .
  15. Excuse me for my ignorance but does a cammo wrap add weight to the rod ? I have a cammo rod and its heavy . I dont even use it .
  16. I have one gold blade buzzbait that works real well . Not because of the color but because it squeals like the dickens .
  17. I just go fishing like normal . Maybe shy away from top waters . Fish the cover and structure like I normally would and try to piece things together . I went yesterday same conditions in northern Mo. not far from Iowa. I just made a post in another thread so I'll copy and paste here .I caught bass on spinnerbait , worm and one on a Red Eye shad ...and yes , if there are brushpiles I'm fishing them especially post frontal conditions . "Dont go home because the fish are not biting . Yesterday was tough . Bright sunny skies after a day of heavy rain . After 4 hours I had boated 4 little bass . But slowly I started building a good stringer . I dont know if the bite picked up or I just got dialed in . Ended up with 20 , a limit over 15 inches and 2 bass just shy of 4 lbs . Let me tell you about my largest . There was very little surface activity all day . no bait fish or anything . But one time there were some schooling bass . I usually dont chase schoolies but fishing was tough . Reaching them as fast as possible I moved into casting range then the action stopped . I made several cast with a half ounce Red Eye shad to no avail. I launched another cast , let the Red Eye settle to the bottom at nine foot, gave a few hops and felt the tap . Set the hook and landed a very fat 3.98 lber . "

  19. I'm also a purple user . They have produced in every color water I have encountered .
  20. I have . I seen purple crawdads also darters that are as colorful as any aquarium fish .
  21. ...but thats not what the guy in the video is doing . I just looked 16 lb sunline shooter up and its only .0129 inches in diameter , which is .0011 slimmer than what I use .
  22. I user the diamond file on a leatherman . Its a great hook sharpener .
  23. Hes pitching with a 3/16th ounce weight . I cant do that competently . Hes using a 7'4" rod . I use a 7 footer . Does the extra 4 inches allow him to pitch with a lighter weight ?
  24. I just use the unpainted alum blade .
  25. Hers my intuition at its best . I was walking through the woods with a friends dog . I got an uneasy feeling on what was up ahead . Maybe I heard a rustle or a tree frog quit chirping , I dont know . The dog was sniffing around then stopped , looked in the same direction and growled with hair standing up . I backed out .
