  1. When fishing points or other structure without many snags a 6 inch Jelly Worm on a jig head with exposed hook is a numbers monster .
  2. I have some but have not tied one on yet . I dont know why other than I dont recognize the time and place to throw them . I throw a lot of jigs and Texas rigs and it just doesnt occur to me to try a swing-head . I have given up on Big Os . I know they are great baits but I have never caught much with them .
  3. Better take a few of them along because I'm sure they will get bent out of shape fast by all the fish slamming into them . To me , it looks like a stained water spring time bait .
  4. I keep some in my truck .When I stop at a ditch or something to just make a few cast , its usually with a Beetle Spin .
  5. I'll play . My 2021 A-team .
  6. I throw lots of baits that are not used a lot . Crankin Raps , Fat Raps , Deep Wee Rs , Model a's , Little N's , Jelly worms , Gizits , Long A's , Prop A's ,Pico Pops , large Rebel chugger , Large sized Beetle Spins are just a few . The large Beetle Spins are no longer available but they can be made with any grub one wishes . I got lucky and found some big yellow Beetles without the spinner at a mom and pop tackle store .
  7. "Welcome to the wonderful world of Beetle Spins ."
  8. I use to make crankbaits and didnt know what I was doing . They never ran straight , so I would take a dremel tool and shave the lip on one side or the other until they did .
  9. I still have three or four Pico Perches . I havent used one for a few years . When I first started bass fishing from a boat , Picos used in standing timber caught lots of bass .
  10. I keep them on wire clip stringer when fishing from a boat with elec motor propulsion . The fresh water flowing through the gills by the movement of the boat keeps them fresh and alive al day . The bass never die unless they are bleeding badly to begin with . I clip the fish through the lower mouth , not through the gill opening .
  11. I found a few overhanging an irrigation ditch I fish .
  12. I found a few at one of the irrigation ditches I fish . I did not intend to post this here . I thought I was posting in the found lures thread .
  13. I never trolled with a lipless bait because it would be a guessing game on my part as to how deep the lure is . I found a diving bait will troll about twice the depth as its casting diving depth . Those Bomber Flat A's and Deep Flat A's have a tight lipless type action . They might be an alternative and the depth would be more controllable .
  14. The first jig trailers I ever used were black twin tail grubs by Mister Twister back in the late 70's . I still use twin tails more than any other trailer .
  15. I did a lot of stupid stuff but did not hang out with the wrong crowd . If I sensed trouble , or was uncomfortable , I split .
  16. One of the stupid memes I made for the meme thread .
  17. When there is snow on the ground , I go on hikes . Carry a big knife , fire starter and flask of whiskey . I like to examine the animal tracks and enjoy the winter quietness . Find a good place to start a fire and just spend several hours alone in the wilderness . Its therapeutic .
  18. I tried fly fishing for bass when I was young . I didnt catch enough to keep me interested . I had one of those "moths" that was mentioned in Sports Afield or other outdoor magazine . Had a hair mouse too .Dont think I ever caught a fish on either one . I liked those green sponge spiders that Homer Circle raved about and slow sinking honey bees but mainly caught bluegills .
  19. I heard his name a lot but didnt know much about him . I use to have some Gapens Ugly Bugs but never found a niche for them .
  20. I have used them with good success but can not claim the rattle made any difference . Sounds carry so well under water that it doesnt take much to get a basses attention .While snorkeling in a clear Ozark stream , every single snag I came across had bass on it . When I tapped a fingernail on my watch face , the bass would come check it out .
  21. I did learn how to skip some . I got to use it one day this spring when fishing a culvert that was obstructed by overhanging vegetation . I skipped a z-man Popshadz way back in there , like a pro and caught several bass .
