Youre over thinking it just like I use too . Just go fishing . You say there are weeds in the pond , throw lures that work well in weeds . A stick worm like a Yum Dinger , Senko... rigged weedless and fished slowly through the weeds is a good option . Any other cover like wood ? You could easily add some brush , Christmas tree..,it may become the best bass magnet in the pond .

I think bass can become line shy .

Bass lures . As far back as I can remember I've been infatuated with bass lures . If I went to a store that had a fishing dept ., heck with the toys , I went to stared at bass lures and still do today .

I went yesterday and had my worse day of the year . Fished about ten hours and caught fifteen ,with the largest biggest around three lbs . It was tough fishing . I got the majority of my fish in woody cover using a texas rigged stick-worm . Caught three on a crankbait out on a point and a couple in vegetation with a toad . I didnt switch up lures , instead stuck with lures that work in the cover and structure available . I did break the line twice on hook sets .There is no doubt one of the fish was big because it erupted all over the toad , right at the boat. I set the hook too hard on that one,wanting to make sure the hook went in her ,lol . I think the other was a good one too . When I set the hook with the worm it was solid , it wasnt a dink unless it took the lure under a branch .That happens .

I have yet to pick an angler to fish on sunday .. My picks have been so poor that there is one guy ahead of me that didnt even participate the last tourney . My picks are already in for fort gibson . I used the rapala 50 lb high contrast scale yesterday for the first time . It worked well at home but when I got it out in the sunlight , I could not read the little numbers and cull icons . First fish got logged in okay , second fish didnt get added at all . After awhile I though I was getting the hang of it and had my five largest bass entered but when I checked the total weight it was at 8.5 lbs which wasnt correct . Some how a fish got deleted . It was operator error but still , I could not read the smaller symbols . Hopefully, I'll have no problems next time .

After several trips I am putting the KastKing Assasin away . The sound it makes both on the cast and the retrieve "I think" is the spool gently touching the housing . Its an inconsistent caster , cast well at times then the next cast not so well .

The last Rapala I bought was made in China and is rubbish . It has a different steel , its visibly shinier and cheap looking .Hard too sharpen and doesnt stay sharp . I hope they corrected that .I've owned many of them . They have been good knives until this last one . I have a Browning that works pretty well. The one I have is no longer made . I dont know what the other models are like.

Is there a participation prize ?

I either us a skirt or a swim bait , not both . I picked up some Yum Money Minnows on clearance and they performed well .The lure cast farther and retrieved slower with a great hook-up ratio . Still used a trailer hook , even with the swimbait .

Also look for featureless areas and any irregularities there . A stump on a flat for instance , would be a high percentage spot . I dont know how to go about marking it . Maybe arrange some rocks on bank .

Double down on cover and structure . If fishing slow doesnt work then I'll cover water . I dont have a go to bait , just keep plugging away and try to make good decisions and presentations . Numerous times I have fished a cove with no strikes then the next one over produces . Glen has a video where he ask the pros the same question. About half slow down and fish more thoroughly and the other half cover more water .

The 50 lb high contrast digital scale . I havent used it yet . I played with it around the house . It will tell you the minimum and maximum weight saved and the total weight . If you need to cull just put the new weight in the minimum spot .

Have you tried speeding up ?Burning a spinnerbait by vegetation will often trigger strikes . The bass dont have time to examine it and chomp it .

Those Booyah white shad spinnerbaits will work just fine in stained water . Remember , these are a lot more snag resistant than Rooster Tails. They will actually jump logs . Throw them in and around the snags and you should get bit .

I fish in hvy cover a lot and MH is what I opt for . I'm limited in the number of combos to carry , so they have to cover other techniques when called upon .

I'm thinking un-peg the weight and peg the hook .

I usually dont . The only time I do is when I need a little extra weight and then I'll use part of a stick worm .
