I remember a time where bass were just slashing at crankbaits, I changed several cranks but could not find one they wanted, hooking several in the face. Finally I tied a Rapala X-Rap jerk bait and that worked.

I dont know what hook youi are using. I learned this from a youtuber. Take a black bobber stop and run it up the hook. It takes a little finagleing but its doable. I use those black stops. Not the crappie size ones, they are too small. Get them on amazon, super inexpensive. It keeps the worm in place. I'd say 99 percent effective.I rig them up at home so not have to do it on the water.

I used them without trailers and caught just as many fish.

I use to have some craws with a bubble in the pincer. You could place a little rattling ball in them . They would float and make noise. Cant remember who made them.

Ive used lots of the old style baits, not so much the new ones. Larew Salt Craws T-rigged and jig trailers are probably the ones I used most. Guido bugs probably second.

I take a camera and set the timer for ten seconds. The camera has a little tripod or i just lay it on a rock, tacklebox...

I love fishing below dams. I want to be able to fish all depths and current efficiently. My bait choices are simple. Grubs on jig heads and spinners such as the Strike King Rocket Shads. Being i'm going to lose some lures jig and grubs cover all depths well and inexspensive. There doesnt seem to any water going over the spillway . So ignore my post.

I use VMC's a lot. I know a lot of folks will scoff at it but the offset Ozark Trail worm hooks have been good . If I break one or straighten one I might change my mind but so far so good. I flip and pitch cover with them.

I have replaced the cheap swivel with a ball bearing one and the colorado blade with a willow leaf. Put the harness on a swimbait and 1/4 oz head and have a souped up Beetle spin.

My avatar picture is the first good day of fishing I had. Fished at a cousins pond with a cane pole and can full of worms.Caught a couple of nice bass, a channel cat and plump bluegills. I broke that cane pole lifting a bass.

Dad got me fishing when little . Mostly crappie and catfish but I was always infatuated with bass lures. I would go to tackle shops and just stare at them.As soon as I got a car , I began bass fishing.Started with ponds and Mississippi river back waters. Then got a little aluminum boat with a two hp johnson. Added a Plueger two speed trolling motor and started hitting small lakes. There was a bass club in the area and I got involved with that for a couple of years.

I use to catch a lot of bass with a Bayou Boogie along riprap. I may I lost them all. I might have one left.

Any more I throw Red Eye Shads and almost always hop them along the bottom. I dont throw lipless around wood. I'm just not good enough to finesse through without hanging up.

I used light wire Gammy's and the barb is so tiny that they keep popping out of the worm. I used flipping hooks that were so thick that they failed to penetrate on a "strong" hookset. So I tend to go to a medium wire hook.

I use these and have zero complaints. Touch them up with a diamond file . I like them as well as any hook I ever used and at a good price.

I dont use drop shot weights. I just use a cheap lead bullet weight with a bobber stop and overhand knot at the end of the line.

I just add in my head as I go along. I might not get it exactly right but pretty close. A few years ago I kept track for a whole year. I dont remember what my total was. Its on bass resource some where.

I have done it just for fun. If I was a serious tournament angler I would learn it. I just dont see the need as a recreational angler.

I use sinking lures. Beetle Spins, Swim baits, lipless baits... I cast to different depths, allow the lure to sink to the bottom, hop it up real quick and retrieve while staying close to the bottom. Then move a few steps and repeat.
