  1. The way I see it , the reason why bass have so many fry is because very few of them percentage wise makes it past one year . The bass lay enough eggs to overcome predators . Fishing during the spawn is not going to have much of an impact .
  2. I rarely go small and rarely go big . Ill go big when deep cranking because it is necessary . I fish med size lures because they cast better on my equipment . The more effortlessly I can cast the more accurate I am and that should get me more and bigger fish .
  3. The deep Little N has long been my go to crank for the 10 ft mark . Now I also use the Dredger 14.5 and Crankin Rap CR14 . Whichever one floats my boat at the time . All three have a tight action which I like .
  4. If your bank fishing with a lot of sliimy algae you are very limited as to what will work . The senko worm Texas rigged without weight is a solid choice . I like to use the Yum Swurm weightless.
  5. I saw small fry jumping out of the water too last week but couldnt catch them on topwater . I finally figured out Bluegill were chasing them .
  6. I tried both buzzbaits and frogs the other day and didnt catch any but I had to try . They were wolfing down spinnerbaits near the surface .
  7. All those lures on the shelves catch fish . If they dont then people dont buy them and lure companies dont make money . They all have their time and place .
  8. Crankbaits Spinnerbaits, Buzzbaits Texas rigs jigs
  9. I s that wire suppose to be bent or is it mangled ? A Banana head spinnerbait might be pretty close to that as , far as snaglessnness goes .
  10. I'm impressed how easily he got back in the boat .
  11. I've had great days and bad days .I cant figure those bass out .
  12. I found round wire bending pliers at a craft shop .
  13. You missed it . Had margaritas too .
  14. Ive been pouring my own . I have had badly mangled wire harnesses each time out this year .I just remove the hardware and put it on a new form . I even melt the leadhead and reuse the hook . Light-wire lures dont last long at all before they snap . I have two brand new ones with the old blades ready to go next trip .
  15. If I was fishing in an area where big bass were more common and there was a lot of cover I would go with 15 lb Big Game but 12 lb has worked well for me . I cant recall a bass ever breaking it off while chucking spinnerbaits .
  16. I keep an eye out for ball bearing swivels . One time Wal-Mart had 5 packs of Strke King blades on clearance at .25 cents a pack .Each blade came equipped with a sampo BB swivel . The local farm store had the cheapo Strike King spinnerbaits on clearance for .25 and some of them had the good swivels .
  17. They do fish exactly the same until hey are killed . The blades wont turn while they are falling but a lure with a quality swivel will . But if you never let the bait die , flutter , fall... it wont make a difference .
  18. There are only a few lures that can be fished on this public lake because of the Chara Algae . Right now its as muddy as I have ever seen it , with just a couple of inches of visibility and willow leafs work just fine .
  19. 12 lb Big Game .
  20. 39 more today 36 caught on a spinnerbait .
  21. No need to make it complicated . I use willow leafs almost all the time , even in murky water . I do like the Midnight Special at night mostly because of the rattle . Any major brand will work great . The one thing that is a must for me is a quality ball bearing swivel . I have been fishing twice this year and have caught 86 bass give or take a couple , all on spinnerbaits .

It seems purple is popular with us Missouri anglers .
  23. Excuse me for my ignorance but I dont have a smart phone , I use a tracfone . Does your phone have a timer ?
  24. I've been a buzzbait junky since I bought my first Lunker Lure forty-something years ago . They can be fished through the same snags a spinnerbait can be thrown in . Spooks , poppers... cant .
  25. Thats a heck of a bluegill . I would use one of those things below a couple of dams I know .
