  1. Release earlier than you do on the spinning set up , or else you will cast it in the ground with a big back-lash .
  2. The wind shifted out of the north today . High blue bird skies . Water temp 54 degrees . I caught 42 bass on a spinnerbait with 10 over 15 inches . 2 were four lbers .Here is one of them . The first two hours I only had three fish but man they turned on after that .
  3. I would concentrate on those trees and riprap if its available . A jig or texas rigged craw will pick those trees apart , add a top water or buzzbait to go over them and a spinnerbait to go through them . If there is a rip rap bank or dam , I would use inexpensive sinking lures like a jig and grub , beetle spins, pre rigged paddle tails ,etc. Fan cast and let the lure sink to bottom , reel in slow and pause a couple of times . The lure will follow the contour all the way back to the bank. There will be a some snags, so go inexpensive .
  4. 20 1 to 2 lb fish in a day of fishing isnt that much . I usually go for 8 hours and I consider that a poor day on a local lake . Thats less than three fish an hour .
  5. Another question , is there a rip rap dam that can be fished ?
  6. I cant imagine live , green weeds not holding bait . There are minnows , crawdads , insects , frogs ...
  7. I need lipless , shallow , med and deep divers .
  8. I strive for both .
  9. Yes , a big sewing needle .
  10. I would probably throw willow's but dont know which would be better .

I like that bluegill colored Berkeley . I would like to see that color in a silent squarebill .
  12. Thats the definition of a Toad .
  13. I look everywhere . High bluebird skies and no breeze sometimes I'll find fish out on the points sometimes in shoreline cover , beaver houses , laydowns... I just keep plugging away . If slowing down doesnt work then I'll cover more water . So many times I have stumbled on an area that has active bass .
  14. 1: They throw heavier crankbaits on 10 lb test , so yes it can be done . I prefer heavier line for a spinnerbait because I'm usually tossing them in and around heavy cover . 2: Yes , experiment with blades all you want .
  15. This is what it looks like .I fish it with an exposed hook most of the time then bury it when I encounter lay-downs .
  16. I dont do this on the water but ahead of time . When fishing for river smallmouths I run three or four strands skirt material through half a Senko or other stick bait so it appears to have appendages . Fished on a jig head , smallies gobble them down . Never use red or white though because little fish will peck at those strands .
  17. Are you fishing from bank or boat ?
  18. I use to drive a panel van with rod racks installed . I carried four rods all the time and one box .. It was filled mostly with soft plastics and jigs . Also jars of pork rind , buzzbaits ,spinnerbaits , llipless cranks , Bomber long A's , beetle Spins and H&H spinners . I caught a lot more big bass in those days than I do now . If the weather was good I fished most days after work . I had a milk run of Mississippi back water that was protected by levees that had lots of big bass . Also fished river banks , small streams , ponds, anywhere and everywhere . Soft plastic baits didnt melt .
  19. I agree with Team9 and mostly avoid them now days . But if I'm fishing an electric motor only lake which I do a lot , I fish from spot to spot I might as well follow the contour lines and fish them .
  20. I have spent countless hours fishing deep flats with limited success. Every once in a while ,though, I hook up with a lunker . I simply follow the depth that I think the bait fish are more prevalent and throw either a crankbait or carolina rig . When and if I do hook up or find some cover , I toss a buoy and fish that area more thoroughly .
  21. Got my Assassin in the mail today and I am returning it for exchange . Its not engaging properly after the clutch bar is pushed . It doesnt do it every time, about once every 15 pushes .
  22. I walk both ways , I have to get back after all .
  23. I use to catch the vast majority of largemouths bass on soft plastics . The last half dozen years I've been having more success on hard baits and dont know the reason why .
  24. I'm not a sit down angler either , not even in small crafts . This year I have been forced to sit down because of back pain . I need to shorten all my rod handles down two to four inches .They are too long and I dont like having to hold the rod out away from my body that far . It is contributing to the back issues .
  25. I have no idea how barometric pressure effects fish and have never consulted it .
