  1. Scott Martin wasnt invited ? Someone must seriously dislike him .
  2. I've had so-so results with green pumpkin . I've had more success with purples and blues .

If a person is trying to learn where bass hang out , the texas rig worm is the best teacher .
  4. I do a lot of fishing from a jon boat and i can hear the rattles beating inside a Red Eye Shad as it is falling , even on the Two Tap . I can sometimes hear bass hitting the lures and not feel it .
  5. There are popular lures that I havent caught fish on . Most of us dont have the time to use every lure manufactured . I have most success on spinnerbaits during spring ,and in the wind . Buzzbaits , I try a lot even if the conditions are not idea . They are kind of un-predictable .
  6. Another one that I still carry in my box but havent used in several years is the Pico Perch .
  7. I dont think it makes that much difference . a plastic craw is a plastic craw . I liked the Guido bug too because of it smooth glossy finish . If I had a doubt if that was a bite or not , all i had to do was examine the lure for teeth marks . The Guido Bug clearly shows them .
  8. Mono will work just fine on your baitcaster and many good bass anglers prefer it .
  9. To me fall crankbait fishing is just like summer . Try to figure out how deep the bass are and choose accordingly .
  10. Ive had bass swipe at square bills like that and then switch to a suspending jerk bait too catch them . The specific lure is rapala x-rap .
  11. Its funny how a pattern gets hot one year and the next year that bite never materializes . This has been a good year for buzzbaits . Even summer , cloudless days have been good . I hope it keeps up through the next couple of months .
  12. My worst picks of the year . 13. I learned why my Lowrance hasnt been working well . If you scroll through the menu, there under settings, select this item , then scroll some more and push more buttons there are settings for shallow , deep , salt , fresh and trolling . Mine was set on shallow . Switched it to fresh and it worked perfectly .?
  14. Thankfully, guys like that are in the minority .
  15. I just went to Table Rock lake and forgot a pistol grip spook rod . It was a pain it the butt trying to walk the dog with a long handled rod .
  16. I'm in the Red Eye Shad camp . I like to hop them like a worm and the RES excels at that . I havent thrown a trap in three years .
  17. Well . that was humbling . First of all I was sick the entire week and the first three days were so hot that I barely wet a line . The last three days the weather cooled and I got some fishing in . I didnt catch a lot and flat-out fished poorly . I lost more fish than I caught .On Saturday , I lost a big smallmouth and spottted bass , hopping a 3/4 ounce jig in 27 foot of water on a main lake point . Had them all the way to the boat . Both these fish appeared to be in the four to five lb range and just came un-buttoned . The last day the jig bite stopped and I tried my hand with a drop shot , a tactic that I'm not very familiar with . I caught 1 fish and lost six . Must have been bad technique . A couple of those fish felt good and was stripping out line at the get go . I'm back home with my tail between my legs ready to catch some shallow fall bass .
  18. A Berkely Dredger 17.5 will kick up dirt at 14 foot .
  19. I fished 3/4 ounce football jigs out to 30 foot tonight on two points and nothing . Both points i fished had a bass boat come into after I left , one was decked out with ultra violet lights . So the two points I chose get fished by the locals .I then fished the shore with a variety of lures and nothing .When I pulled in to dock for the night there are a bunch of ladies in bikinis partying . I had two shots of FIRE-BALL with them then had to leave before my wife caught me . Its been to hot to fish during the day but cooler weather is on its way Friday .
  20. I'll have to stop at a tackle store , the biggest jigs i have are 1/2 ounce. i slept in today , ran a fever all night .
  21. It was 95 degrees today ! I fished a couple of hours in the morning and called it quits . I had one in a brush pile at 15 foot that I couldnt get free and caught a flathead on a crankbait about 10 foot deep . Its suppose to be this hot until Saturday . I'll probably fish a little in the morning then just go looking , do a lot of sonar watching . Maybe I'll stand on the dock and tune some crankbaits . Sheesh its hot .
  22. I've never heard about elbows being in the proper position . I'm a highly evolved hook-setter by now and dont know where my elbows go . So if the next time I set the hook and I'm thinking about my elbow position , its your fault .?

I am usually armed having been a victim of robbery , assault and battery by three grown men when I was teenager . I was alone in the country sitting at my camp-fire . So yeah, I carry and often have a gun in my locked vehicle .
  24. I'll have a formidable selection of those .
  25. I'll be there for a week and am out of my element in the deep clear water . I only have one decent spinning outfit because I rarely use them in the fertile , colored water here . Its going to be fun and i'm confident i'll get on fish somewhere, somehow. Quite often I think out-of-towners have an advantage because they are prone to do things different than the local experts , at least thats what I keep telling myself . LOL . Last time there I caught the biggest spotted bass I ever hooked by waking a large popper just under the surface , pushing a huge bulge out in front of it . As hot s it is i might have to resort to some night fishing . I did that last time there , also in September .
