  1. Now that sounds like a lot of fun . I use to fish under a mullberry tree when they were ripe . I'd put a big fat one on a hook , flip it out there on an ultra light and the berry rarely reached bottom .
  2. Chum the area with a can of corn or dough balls . I love fishing for carp . some days they prefer one over the others . Wheaties make for a good dough ball .Get a handful dip it in the water and squeeze .
  3. I have my favorite productive colors that I usually have tied on . If the bass are hitting tentatively or swiping at it not choking it then I start switching colors and actions . Sometimes they are hard to predict . One time I was hooking up about 90 per cent of the cast . They were taking my crankbait so deep that I was having trouble getting the lures out and spending more time unhookking fish than fishing . I switched colors and action, they didnt take it as deep . I ended up catching more fish because they were so easy to release .
  4. Never tried the frogs in it but they should work fine . Weightless worms on stout gear works good . Make sure to use a heavy hook . Senko type worms have enough heft to be cast well without weight .
  5. "not catching em" whats that ?
  6. Where did you get the cover ? I need one for a Lowe 2220 LS for traveling .
  7. I'm wanting to take a week long trip this fall and am contemplating Pomme de Terre . I have never been there . Wondering if anyone can recommend lodging with boat slips .
  8. That an awesome whopper !
  9. Catching awesome whoppers is an awful lot of fun .☺️
  10. I pretty much know what to encounter before I ever hit the water , so I have everything rigged before I leave home .
  11. The Long A cast well on bait casting gear .
  12. I still throw worms a lot . Un-pegged , off-set hook , clear blue fluorescent line , just like I did 40 years ago . The only difference , I use a 1 foot longer rod .
  13. I usually use a trailer hook and have a pretty good success rate . I also pour my own and incorporate the stair step design like on the Cavitron . I dont know if that helps or not but it seems too . I was just out last night , no moon until midnight and caught over 50 percent of the strikes . and dont set the hook until you feel the fish , which is easier said than done . Our reflexes want to jerk when we see or hear the strike .
  14. I also throw the Long A's , usually post spawn in pockets and on points . Biggest stringer I ever caught was with one .
  15. An older gentleman I know uses vintage Johnson spincast reels with the spool reversed and fished upside down on fly rods . I had a couple of those reels and gave them to him .
  16. My local pond got choked out by that gorilla snot . I caught a lot of big bass in it , throwing a weightless worm and plopping it on top . A senko would work well because its heavy enough to cast on stout baitcasting gear . I used a Yum Swurm and a big hook .
  17. Thats it . I bought it at Bull Shoals thirty five years ago and havent used it .
  18. I dont like the taste of catfish but do bass . I like catching catfish. I find them easy to pattern during the summer , so much so that I fish for them with lures . Pop a lipless crankbait off the bottom in a school of channel cats and one will pummel it , no little tap like a bass gives .
  19. The tree frogs and insects were so loud last night , that I had a hard time hearing my buzzbait .
  20. Anybody know how deep a weighted to suspend , Spoonbill Rogue will go . Ive had this lure a long time ,added suspend dots but have not tried it .
  21. I gave already picked for the Chesapeake Bay . I dont study much , just pick some guys who did well there last time . ? Martens ? Hackney ? Lowen ? Menendez ? R. Lane So far this year i am 0 for 4 in making a cut with guys named Lane . Lets see if the streak will end .
  22. What deep diving jerk bait will go 12 foot ? I want to try it .
  23. I went night fishing yesterday to get away from the this heat . I havent been fishing since April . Made it to the lake at 6:30 to get a couple of hours of day-time fishing in . I find the thermocline at 18 foot and a lot of fish between 10 and 14 foot . I head off to a nearby point and dont see many fish on it but do see a lot suspended off the sides 10 to 14 foot in 25 foot of water . I toss a buoy and fish top of the point and only catch one dink . I start casting the Berkely Dredger 14.5 out past the suspended fish and start hooking up . I spent an hour there and caught about a dozen with several 15 to 16 inches , nothing big . I tried a Red Eye shad but was just guessing if it was in the strike zone . I knew the Dredger would hit 14 foot and stay there for a while , no guess work. I like those Dredgers . Before dark I head shallow with a buzzbait and continue to throw it until one in the morning . The bass [no hawgs] hit all night long , especially along the rip rap dam . Also caught a half dozen along the dam with a Storm Rattlin Thin Fin .
  24. I had Daniels but better yet Cliff Pirch too ,who was worth 15 more points than Daniels . You would think the winner would have the most points . Last year I picked Horton who won at Okeechobee but Ott Defoe was the point winner because of the added bonus points .
  25. I went fishing last night . Fished til 1 in the morning and caught about thirty on buzzbait and Storm Rattling Thin Fin . It was comfortable .
