  1. Braid is probably the way to go . I tried it and cant use it . The way I hold my line and I've been doing it that way forever , it cuts my index finger on the hookset .
  2. I think what he means is why a leader of a lighter test .My leaders are the same test as my main line . I have never used a Carolina Keeper but am going to try it . I use 3/4 ounce weights and am skeptical that the keepers they will keep them in place .
  3. I dont fish many but the Bomber Flat A in chartreuse is my favorite crankbait for the mississippi river .
  4. I usually use crappie jigs for whites . I fish the Mississippi river and lakes foe them .On the lakes I watch for active gulls and fish there , sometimes deep .
  5. Ive had bats hit my line when night fishing for catfish . I set the hook on a catfish shortly after one hit my line and it snapped a few feet from the rod tip. I swear, that bat bit my line .
  6. What did you catch that brute on ?
  7. You have some good lures there .If there is a dam with rip rap you should be able to catch some there with those deep diving crankbaits .
  8. I carp and catfish often . I use 7.5 foot flipping rods made for bass fishing and Quantum 1310 mg reels .
  9. I take it as a challenge .
  10. I use carolina rigs as a search bait on offshore structure . Its a fast way to work around a point, flat... Zoom lizards are a classic C-rig bait . I also like plastic worms , tubes , grubs and others .
  11. They are thick here along the Mississippi and its tributaries . Dont know if they will wipe out the bass . My niece was hit in the head by one and knocked out of her kayak . She was OK .
  12. Riverside made lots of different colored worms . I use to buy them at Big Lots in clear with silver flake .
  13. Calm, mild , overcast days are what I like best . Not only do topwaters work well , but so does everything else . You know the lures that work when the fishing is tough , they work even better when fishing is good . On an overcast day one year , I caught a six fish limit on six cast with a Texas rig .
  14. I have exactly enough to last nineteen years .
  15. I first fished hollow frogs decades ago . I havent fished them much since . Back then I put pieces of plastic worm inside for a little extra casting weight .
  16. I was fishing jigging spoons for white bass off the end of a boat ramp . I snagged two wrist watches, a spinning rod and reel and a dip net .
  17. If there is brush , trees ... in the area I will slow it down and work them more thoroughly with a soft plastic or jig . If there isnt that sort of cover and I' catching them on fast moving baits then I' going to continue with whats working .
  18. Theres a lot of things to try .One is to retrieve very quickly . This will work often , the fish doesnt have time to reject the lure . Its .a technique that has worked well for me with smaller spinnerbaits . I dont know what a basses mental capacity is but they do have the ability to reject . I believe line can play a factor . I have experienced it often .
  19. I have no go to bait . My favorite lure is a Lunker Lure buzzbait . Thats my favorite way to fish . The lure that has caught more fish for me than maybe all others combined is a T-rigged worm , lizard , craw...
  20. If the grass is matted on the surface I usually use a heavy weightless worm .If its under the surface lots of lures can be used . Buzzbaits and spinnerbaits are good bets .
  21. Probably about 8 hours . I cant remember the last time I went for a day of fishing and been skunked .
