  1. When it happens with a top water I set the hook to soon , with a plastic worm I set the hook to late , with a crankbait I set the hook just right .
  2. Dont know , chiclid's .
  3. When fishing from bank you are generally fishing uphill , especially on the steeper banks .I like to take inexpensive prerigged swim baits cast to different depths , let it sink to the bottom and retrieve it .The bait will be close to the bottom the entire retrieve . Its a natural presentation , in the strike zone a long time and a good way to learn the structure of your pond . If you get snagged then you just found some fish holding cover . Very simple and very effective .
  4. I'm not going to say yea or nay but when snorkeling in a clear creek, around largemouth bass " EVERY TIME ' I tapped a fingernail on my watch or rap two rocks together bass would come and investigate .
  5. Think of your tackle box as a tool box and lures as tools .Choose the right tool for the task . There are thousands of scenarios .
  6. Can we start calling you Fred Flintstone ? LOL
  7. I dont get to fish often enough to try every new lure and technique that comes around . I study the conditions at hand and choose the technique and bait accordingly .
  8. You're not the only one . I've been an avid bass angler for forty years and have never used a drop shot . Nor have I ever used a wacky worm , or a Shaky jig or alabama rig and others .
  9. Because they must not be profitable .
  10. I get lots of bites that i dont know. I weigh the line and if my line feels heavy I set the hook . Thats the reason I still use mono instead of florocarbon . I'm use to the sensations of mono .
  11. I'm not a game hog but I keep bass to eat. I keep the smallest ones that I legally can . Its one of the reasons that I do a lot of fishing at a lake with a slot limit . I caught a large bass there earlier this year that was gill hooked and bleeding badly . I tried to release it but it floated and struggled on the surface , so I filleted it . It was delicious with flakey white flesh .

I like Rebel Deep Wee R's a lot but am down to two in funky Color C Lector red and green . I have a coup;e of Double deep Wee R's and Deep Maxi R's along with a naturalized Baby Bass .Theres a couple others lying around .
  13. What , 15 degrees ?
  14. Of course . I use certain lures under certain conditions and different seasons . .
  15. jig vs Trig I fish them the same and set the hook the same .The T rig is basically a jig with the weight separate from the hook .
  16. Other than basic changing hooks , blades ... I cant recall ever making modifications that improved the bait . I tried shaving the bottom of a pop r mouth but it didnt improve it any ,I trimmed a bunch of weed guards on jigs exactly like some "Pro" recommended and wound up with a bunch of jigs that were no longer snag resistant .
  17. I went yesterday . Stared at 10 o'clock and caught a bass on the second cast . I caught 70 to 80 fish then at around five o'clock not even a strike . No weather change or anything . I'm guessing they had full bellies and were settling in for the night .
  18. I wont go fishing without a good supply of 6 inch straight tail worms such as the Manns Jelly Worm , weights and hooks .
  19. A single willow leaf blade , gold and bluegill imitating skirt .
  20. Ive only caught one on a buzzbait , happened at night . He missed the first cast and I thought it was a huge bass . Got him on the second cast ,
  21. I would try to find an experienced bass fisherman to help you select baits for your waters . I would go for quality inexpensive lures . There are a lot of them .
  22. You just have to keep chucking. Even after an autumn cold front I have caught a lot of bass on med diving crankbaits such as a Bomber Model A .
  23. When I'm pitching I generally work the worm / jig way past the visible cover . I'll often hop it all the way back in .
  24. The three packs of Luck E Strike buzzbaaits at wal Mart is a really good value . I dont care for the three packs of spinnerbaits though .
