  2. Winter time in Missouri channels cats are caught with shad sides . I pick dead ones up along the banks of rivers throw them in a bucket and fillet them where I'm fishing . Most people buy jars of stinking rotten ones , I prefer something fresher .
  3. It would help to know where you are located and what kind of catfish .
  4. Anything . Should be an easy spot to fish .
  5. I have an old Eagle Fishmark 320 which may be similar to your old lowrance . Its a great sonar unit . I dont have to tweak it , ever . Just turn the power on and it shows fish , cover , water layers , I can even track a fishing lure with it if its in the cone . It shows fish in perfect arches just like the advertisements . If the fish, are moving like a school of feeding white bass then they will show up as slashes . Its a really good unit .
  6. I looked like that after sitting through the Big Cedar Lodge Time share seminar but hey , I got to see the Dolly Parton wild west show for free .
  7. Fish it , make sure you give a solid hook set and you will catch most fish but will never achieve a 100 per cent hookup rate . You cant fish woody cover without it .. I like the ones with a forked plastic weedguard . One of the early Bass Pros {cant recall which one} use to manufacture ones with the forked weedguard , he put them in plastic sacs and staplde them to a card by the dozen . I use to buy a card at a time . Had a pretty good hookup ratio using those .
  8. Ok . my mistake . It wasnt in the original post .
  9. I think its a cool looking action , It jumps up and down .
  10. They are not made of glass .
  11. This thread wasnt about river fishing , thats a different thread .
  12. I bowl .hunt , hike, metal detect ...I love winter even if I cant enjoy my favorite sport .
  13. There you go .
  14. I dont know anything about Tellico reservoir which is listed as your favorite lake .A quick look on Google and its location I imagine its a highland lake , deep and clear . i'm guessing you will have to do a lot of deep structure fishing to be consistent . The clearer the water the more I bump deep baits off the bottom .
  15. A genuine Fred Young or a Cordell ?
  16. I posted That I've never done well with sexy shad color . Cant say that anymore . A month ago I caught a bunch stacked up on the end of a point about 12 foot deep with a deep diving Strike King bait in Sexy Shad .
  17. jig and pig 'pork'.
  18. I prefer the R type but use both. The reason is, I use the trilene knot most of the time . I found that the loop on spinnerbaits usually isnt tight and touching itself like on a split ring and after many cast can loosen the knot . No big problem because I just use a palomar on the looped ones .
  19. I fish the steep banks shallow to deep . Jig and pig "pork" is the the number one bait . Sunny banks are best and they may be shallow or deep . Deep is relative like Snakehead said . 15 foot is about as deep as I go unless the water is unusually clear .
  20. I fish in murky waters and my best luck comes on banks where the channels cut in close .
  21. Up here when it gets that temperature , I have had a lot of luck on Bomber Model A's over the years . Dont know why the Model A has consistently out performed other cranks when the water cools down but it has .
  22. Rogers Big Jim Luck e strike Rick Clunn Rapala Crankin Rap Manns Razorback Pig Bagleys honey B
  23. Yeah , you need to get off that bank A.Kayak or even small plastic boat may be the way to go . If you have a pickup truck a bass baby has built in wheels and can be launched it by one person . I have one and a canoe . I fish places others cant get too and those places are easy to fish .
  24. I have a shimano Compere casting rod 6'6'' med light rated for 1/8 ounce lures. I have so many fish get off using that rod that I rarely use it .
