  1. The difference between a twenty fish day and a fifty fish day , small details .
  2. The By that reasoning then you would get just as many bites using a drop shot with 100 lb test than you would with 10 lb test.
  3. A person can tie a lure to 550 paracord and catch a fish but that does not prove that line visibility doesnt matter .
  4. You might catch 5 fish on an Alabama rig . How do you know that you wouldnt catch ten if the wires were invisible . You dont know. . Ive heard that argument before and I think it is a poor reasoning .
  5. I like for my string to be invisible . In green water I like green or clear line . I'm also a line watcher and use blue fluorescent for soft plastics and jigs. I use the old doug Hannon trick and camouflage my line with a marker by coloring two inch strips a couple of feet up . Others think it is a waste of time to do it . I think it will help me catch a few more fish by the end of the day . I dont use florocarbon because I dont like it .
  6. You know I have caught big bass on a lot of different lures . I would say most every category of lure I own has caught multiple large bass .I can only think of two right off hand though that have consistently caught bigger fish on average than the rest. The Jig and Pork and the Bomber Long A Minnow. So if a state record is what I was after those are two lures I would surely be packing .
  7. I have no idea where the Oso rev is and I dont know where you are located. I know some real good out of the way places though .
  8. Thanks for the details .
  9. There are just too many variables to give an answer. Waters have different characteristics and climate . I'll say to fish the arms shallow and someone else will say to fish off shore . We will both be right . You just have to go fishing and every move you make and lure you use make a conscious decision as to why .
  10. I'm a catfish angler too . I use a castnet to catch shad . I dont try to keep them alive . I bought a nice aerator from bass pro but they still died . Now I just drop them in an ice chest to keep them fresh .
  11. I use to buy bottles of Jelly Worm oil. Yes, Manns use to sell the scent in small bottles . I'd add that to my bags of plastics. Now almost all plastics are scented with something , so I dont bother .
  12. There is little doubt in my mind that I can take a shiner , a bobber and a weedless hook { I would use the old PorkO hooks } go to some downed trees along a dropoff at my favorite lake and catch some impressive bass . I just dont want to go though the trouble of acquiring , transporting ,and keeping the bait healthy .
  13. I've out fished beginning fishermen close to 100 per cent of the time . Thats no surprise . LOL . I do have a few buddies that know how to fish and they can very well lay it on me .One friend of mine had never bass fished in his life but make no mistake , hes an angler . He grew up a river rat and just plain knows how to fish. He picked up one of my baitcasters for the first time and was doing a decent job of casting right off the bat . Another thing beginning fishermen struggle with is lure selection . I wish they could all read old Bassmaster magazines with Rick Clunn interviews. They were the most informative articles ,in my opinion , that Bassmaster ever published He preached that a tackle box is like a tool box and the lures are tools . Try to select the right tool for the job at hand . Learn the lures and even if the wrong lures are selected and they will be , we all go through it , this conscious decision of trying to pick the correct lure for the condition at hand is the quickest way to learn .
  14. I use the parasite weight too and the clips . They function well .
  15. Look at my avatar . there are two nice largemouth , the first I ever caught , along with a channel cat and bluegills. They were caught in a farm pond using a cane pole and night crawlers. I remember it well. I have used nightcrawler and minnows a few times in my life since then but haven't caught a lot of bass with them. Sometimes I catch one on bottom fishing for catfish . I just dont like to bother with it even though I know they will catch fish .
  16. A bullet weight usually slides up and down the line or is pegged in place. I use a bobber stop to peg it in place .
  17. I go fishing . Doesnt take me long to get everything together .
  18. Those are two of my all time favorites. I recently found a unused HH spinner but the hook is missing . I liked using them in the Mississippi river along rip rap banks and wing dams .
  19. Heart. The show I saw they teamed up with Jason Bohnam and did several Zepplen songs . Stairway to Heaven had a chorus accompaniment .
  20. Good for you Rhino. You have more patience than I .
  21. Prerigged swimbaits are one of my favorite lures when fishing from bank. Every once in awhile when Im driving by a certain lake I will fish along the dam. I cast the swimbait out to various depths and let it sink to the bottom. Then when retrieved it follows the contour of the bottom from deep to shallow. Its a good bait fished like that and bass along rip rap are often spread out at different depths. This way the bait is presented to a lot of fish .
  22. That may very well be true . You might be using better quality hooks and jigs than I . But I know for a fact that I have left salty baits on hooks and they rusted .
  23. Really cool video and some great catches .
  24. I dont know man. I think a texas rig would be more efficient fishing brush piles 20 foot deep. If all one does is cast and reel at visible targets then live bait may be better , sometimes.
