  1. I dont know if I can shine those blades. The plating is off .
  2. Strike King Rocket Shad is a fantastic lure in fast flowing current . But , the hook may come off during a fight. Its happened to me more than once . I wrap a little wire around the double hook to keep it on. Also , the skirt tears up easily and there are no replacements for it. But it does catch lots of fish in rivers .
  3. DOA makes pinch on wiights
  4. Any of the truly Deep Diving lures. Manns 20 foot plus and others . The reason is simple. They dive too deep for the lakes I fish . I have never had a lot of luck on the red eyed Shad. I've fished them alongside the Rattle Trap and the Trap smoked them .
  5. Cleaning out my garage and found this old Mepps spinnerbait. Its one of the first bass lures I owned. I'm going to put it back into action .
  6. I have never found one that didnt work . I do prefer a six or seven inch worm most of the time . I also use a heavier weight than most . 3/16th or 1/4 .
  7. The south side of oak trees with red head woodpecker nest in them .
  8. My hound dog lure retriever is tied to a marker buoy and is not handy at all. I just saw this idea on You Tube and I'm going to purchase one .https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXjmQ5yJIwo
  9. They work best sun up and sunset or on cloudy days. If youre out on a misty to slight rainy day you may have a memorable day. These are not set rules . I will fish them in the middle of a sunny day if there seems to be a lot of topwater feeding going on .
  10. I have a hound dog lure retriever. Its the only lure retriever i have ever used so I cant compare it to others. It is awkward to use but has almost a 100 percent success rate with it . I dont think those knockers would work well for me because I frequently get hung in fishing line and the only way to get out is to snag a hook and pull it free .
  11. When I have fished for hours and have eliminated a lot of water and lures and am catching fish in 6 foot of water at the back of creeks , I have figured out a pattern .
  12. Exactly. I have a lot more success when I'm not trying to put others on fish .
  13. I fish alone . Theres a lot of family and friends the spincaster crowd that want to go with me, I just want to be by myself .
  14. ! use 3/4 ounce weights and a variety of baits. The popular Zoom Lizard is my favorite. Its harder to detect strikes on a C-rig than on a T-rig . The Zoom Lizard with its smooth shiny surface makes it easy to see teeth marks if your questioning if that was a fish or not .
  15. I was fishiing a black and blue Midnight Special at first.
  16. Its funny how certain lures go hot or cold. A person might catch fish for a whole season on a certain lure then that same lure never produces like that again .
  17. Remove the rest of the plastic and figure out a way to fish the weird jig head skeleton inside of it. I used them with grubs and caught fish but there is no keeper, so the grub didnt stay in place too well .
  18. If you lived closer , I would give you some lead . I have maybe 50 lbs of it. I live 100 miles north of you .
  19. LMAO. That carp shooting fire out is cool.
  20. About how much flour? I will give it a go.
  21. When I was little I watched "Championship fishing with Virgil Ward " whenever I had the chance. I can still hear the song in my head. After every show he would demonstrate haw he used his lures in an aquarium. Almost everytime , no matter what lure his technique was to lift it and let it fall .
  22. Yes , become competent with a texas rig . The day I caught my first bass on a texas rig was the single most important day in my bass fishing life . It opened up a whole new world of bass catching opportunities .
  23. Now my favorite shallow bait has not been made for a long time and I only have one. Thats a Rogers Big Jim. It out fishes the KVD's and the Rick Clunns by a bunch in my experience . They are hard to find .The baits dont have a lot of action to them , which I think is the key . So much so that I'm going to try tying directly to the eye of the other baits, no split ring , to see if I can closely duplicate the same action as the Big jim .
