  1. I have never fished a plastic craw that didnt catch fish well .
  2. I have bought spinnerbaits for as little as a quarter . I switch blades and skirts around to get exactly what I want .
  3. He can catch a buzz .
  4. Take the swivel off and make sure the groove in the slit ring isnt touching the eye. I always tie my knot on the groove .
  5. There wasnt a major reservoir near by until the early 1980's. I started fishing tournaments as soon as they started and did real well but I was an experienced angler having fished a lot of different waters , rivers , reservoirs... half of the competition was just learning .
  6. I've caught a few. They are exciting for sure.
  7. I fish for carp often. I chum the area down with canned whole kernel corn and use it as bait. I'm interested in your bait . How do you make it ?
  8. I once fished a lake stocked with Musky. Fished a musky jitterbug and my biggest bass lures and caught nothing but did have a follow. Switched o a 4 inch french fry worm and caught two . Congrats, they are exciting to catch .
  9. I use to use them all the time in creeks . They always got stolen. I finally got smart and covered it with rocks and it never got swiped again. I used a slice of bread to lure the minnows inside. Dont be surprised if you find a drowned snake in it .
  10. Polarized prescription lens are available anywhere. Heck , there are even polarized transition lens which I'm going to get next time .
  11. Good question. I think it varies from day to day. Some days the fish will be easier to locate on the sunny banks .
  12. Just whatever I have on hand . I'm not brand picky. I bought several packs of Eagle claws one year and am still using them.
  13. I would switch cranks . You are close to catching those fish. A different action may be all that is needed. When that happens to me I go with a less aggressive action with no rattles .
  14. I'd go 3/0 also. That particular color Zoom lizard and size is one of my favorite baits period. It's a good fish catcher in all the seasons .Texas rigged I generally go with a 3/16 or 1/4 ounce weight. I prefer not to peg the weight . I think it will get more hits and the fish will hold on longer. Zoom lizards are very popular on C rigs .
  15. I use the trilene almost all the time . The only time I dont is on a spinnerbait with a looped line tie. They will loosen a trilene knot. Then I use a palomar .
  16. Were you using 7 inch worms in 7 foot of water? Bet you wasnt using a seven foot rod though .
  17. There should be a reason for every lure you choose and every cast you make . Then when you start catching fish you will have a better understanding as to why. Thats what I was taught .
  18. Weightless worm . I use a heavy flipping hook for added casting weight .
  19. Manns Jelly worm and Larew salt Craw .
  20. When I want a lure to do something I can usually figure out a way to modify it on the spot. Thats what my terminal tackle box is for . Theres things in there that I have never used , like pieces of wire .
  21. I like InFisherman . Its not about just about bass fishing its about fishing. I even read the articles about species that I have never fished for. I subscribed to BassMaster for 40 years and did not renew my subscription this time. It adopted the Maxum magazine format [ minus the girls ] . I hated the " Day on the Lake" articles where the Pros fished a new lake. They go to these private lakes that the general public has no access too . They need to send these " pros " to public lakes , that would be a good article .
  22. I pulled a lot of big fish out of that stuff using a weightless Riverside Top Gun and a heavy flippng hook .
  23. I usually dont try to match the hatch. I have my favorites and will usually start fishing with lures that I know catch fish . If they dont produce I change . Bass are just unpredictable .
