  1. My water is to dingy to see beds and the rare times I do see them I cant catch the fish .
  2. Try using a bait that is perfectly smooth . If you are getting bites , the teeth marks are easy to see.
  3. I dont quite understand the question. If you're referring to fishing down a shore line I will parallel cast most of the time unless targeting a piece of cover . For instance last year 6 to 8 foot depths were really producing for me. I keep the boat at that depth Parallel cast and the lure is in the targeted range for the entire cast , not just part of it .
  4. Do you have an extra spool for your reel ?
  5. You dont have to buy glasses out of the Sporting Goods dept. Go to the sunglass displays and just look for Polarized . Fishing glasses that wrap around my face get steamed up a lot. I prefer Aviator style anyway. They look cooler .
  6. I fished it one time . It was so high the boat ramps were underwater. 35 foot high and rising. I found smallmouth bass 35 foot deep on a point up by Theodosia in Missouri. Caught them on brown tubes with quarter ounce heads.
  7. Like others say, safety pin spinnerbaits are easier to fish in cover where bass are likely to hangout. You can even jump logs with a spinnerbait , try that with an inline .
  8. In real nasty stuff like cedar trees or man made brush piles I like T rigs better simply because I find them more snag resistant . Otherwise its just a guessing game for me . I do think fish caught on jigs average bigger than t rigs.
  9. There is no best color. I throw a lot of Lizards and have had success on everyone and every color. Some of the colors I have done well with are Electric blue, purple , black blue tail , black chartreuse tail , brown chartreuse tail , brown
  10. I used them on just a jig head one day last year. The fish were not hitting the cranks I was throwing . I changed to the Yum Money minnow for the first time and the bass were all over it. Didnt catch any more fish on it the rest of the year.I bought one of those Alabama rig packs on clearance.
  11. I dont know if Rapala Fat Raps are still being made or not , but for years they have been consistent producers for me. A jack of all trades type lure, works in a lot of different situations . And Bomber model A's .
  12. I had bass in an aquarium and it looked like yawning to me .
  13. Generally Bass bite better on windy days , its just difficult to throw some baits. Ive caught some nice bass fishing the mud line on windy points using Manns Little George .
  14. If I had three hundred dollars and no casting equipment I'd buy two $150.00 combos .

  16. Thats a big problem with jon boats. I put the trolling motor on the bow on 14 foot boats then I have to put the battery and all other weight as far back as possible. The boat is still front heavy but I think it fishes easier .
  17. Championship fishing With Virgil Ward theme song is my favorite .
  18. In the dirty lakes I fish , finding the clearest water is more important than water temp.
  19. My rule of thumb is the gap should be at least twice as large as the worm is thick.
  20. Or stay home because of severe thunderstorms are on the way , only to miss a beautiful cloudy day with light winds .
  21. I use to make spinnerbaits and experimented a lot with them. I would catch fish early in the year with large bright lures and then the bite seemed to die over night. To get them hitting again I'd pour 1/4 and 3/8 ounce lures with a small wire frame , single small willow leaf blade and a not very visible skirt.
  22. I dont use them for the purpose of changing lures quickly. If I did though , I wouldnt use a snap swivel , just a snap.
  23. Go for it. Years ago I kept catching big bass with giant shad in their gullet. So I purchaded a Bagleys Natural Shad made for stripers. I threw and threw that bait and never caught a fish. Man , I thought I had a great idea . LOL
  24. Of course .
  25. I have old Ugly Sticks that are to wimpy to be good catfish rods unless targeting bullheads. That why I stated " An Ugly stick will work great if it has enough muscle "
