  1. Ive been lucky enough to fish in lakes and rivers with good bass populations and little fishing pressure. The catching in these waters were phenomenal .Introduce fisherman and they become ordinary. Bass may not have brains but they do become more difficult to catch . I've been lucky enough to find populations of unpressured bass on heavily fished lakes. Once boats start showing up on these spots the place is ruined. I try to be a stealthy as possible especially with the trolling motor . A real good thread on this forum is the fattest bass thread. There are an awful lot of big fat bass caught from kayaks .
  2. Topwater : Lunker Lure , Bomber long A Shallow : Rogers Big Jim , various Spinnerbaits Medium : Rebel Deep Wee R , Rapala Fat Rap , Bomber Model A , Norman Deep Little N Bottom: Rattle Trap , Spinnerbait , Blades , Little George anything that sinks .
  3. I like to skin hook but there are times where I do it the old fashioned way , bury the hook in the worm and peg it in place. Brush piles, cedars , and lily pads I do not skin hook .
  4. Sorry , I misread your post. You're wanting information on the upper reaches of the North Fork on Mark Twain lake . I have fished it as far as I could from a bass boat. I dont know if its a good smallmouth fishery or not but it is sure to have some as they are native to salt river . The lake has changed the environment a lot. Below the 2 dams "there is a second dam " are some small mouths. Its definitely worth a shot .
  5. I have fish Hunnewell since the 1970's. You have to use their boats which are free to use. 14 foot John boats. You can bring your own motor , gas or electric. The bass there are just like everywhere and hit the usual offerings. You dont have to fish deeper than 10 foot. It has a slot limit and I always catch a limit under the slot to eat. Theres a lot of standing timber but most of it is not visible. If the lake is low enough , it only fuctuates a foot or two , you can see some of it. If its high , you cant see it . Its one of my favorite lakes, easy to fish . Lots of little bass and a some big ones.
  6. I thought you were going to post about bank fishing with Zara Spooks .
  7. I like the browns and the greens , motor oil is good . Back when I use to make my yearly pilgrimage to Lake of the Ozarks , which was clear water by my standards , Blueberry Jelly Worms were awesome .
  8. I cant even watch a lot of todays fishing shows. I hate the fake reality show format . Pretentious is the best way to describe them. Come on , act like its not the first fish you ever caught .
  9. I use to throw soft plastics and jigs probably 75 % of the time. Now it would be closer to 25 % . This year , who knows. Lures get hot and cold with me.
  10. Some lakes , for me anyhow , the slow presentations are not as effective as they once were. Ive caught a lot more fish the past several years on faster presentations. I'm a Texas rig junkie too .
  11. At those depths I usually throw Traps .
  12. You ever use the Musky Jitterbug. I have one and never caught a fish on it but had several blow ups.
  13. Scuppernong-flavored Jelly Worm .
  14. I rarely throw a walking bait. I get to many misses with it. Maybe they work better in clear water lakes.
  15. I wont use the bagleys. I wouldnt think twice about using those Natural Ikes . Its just that I never caught much off the Ikes. Theres a Rebel natural bass in there too, that I like .
  16. I stop by often . I see others watching them too .
  17. Congrats Dwight. Once again I over estimated the weight of a fish LOL .
  18. Ice out. One of the best times of the year to catch a big fished or get skunked .
  19. Why isnt there a "No Lunker Club " on this site. LOL i belong in that one .
  20. I lost a couple because the line tie was looped and it would act as a spring and loosen the knot. I'm not going to use these two. If I were to use them again I would use a snap or split ring to tie too .
  21. Heres a display of mine. I have some older lures around.
  22. For me buzzbaits work better in November and December than in March. I can remember one day in particular we were catching buzzbait bass during an early snow .
  23. The Bump N Go. It has an adjustable rudder. You can make it move left or right. A fantastic idea. I dont know why it didnt catch on. It works . You can bump a stump on one cast turn the rudder and bump the other side on the next .
