  1. A lot of those Elite anglers who jumped ship are going to have try and requalify or just give up. This puts them in a tough spot.
  2. Currently Yum junebug . Historically , I caught more bass on Manns black grape than anything.
  3. I've used them a lot on visible balls of shad for catfishing . I never tried finding the bait with my depth finder ,good idea though.
  4. This time of year food is plentiful . Berries , seeds and nuts are all mature. Instead of filling the feeder every day now its about once a week.
  5. My five favorite fall top waters are my five favorites the rest of the year. Buzzbait, Spook, Propped minnow bait and... thats only three. I would add frog and toad but they are too frustrating to list as a favorite.
  6. If its still useable ,I put it back in the sack . Unusable plastics are being saved because I plan on melting them and pouring in a mold. Some baits such as stick worms , get snipped in half and used as a ned
  7. I had a French one called a Vivif. It was a harder plastic with downward facing double hooks. It snagged on everything. Those are the first ones I saw.
  8. I have some of those too and will probably use them once my supply of DOA's deplete.
  9. My second hottest lure this summer/autumn has been a 3 inch DOA swimbait on a 1/4 oz Matzou jighead. Been using it to cover shallow water , deeper flats and mouths of coves. Its been producing "every" outing . My biggest problem with it is I set the hook to fast. Reflexes , cant help it. Been fishing a 200 acre lake that gets pretty crowded . A lot of spinnerbaits and chatterbaits are being tossed by other anglers , so I needed to make some adjustments and show the fish something not so belligerent. Its been a good one two punch along with a Texas rigged worm. I know, late to the party again . Who else relies on them to catch stubborn bass?
  10. You ever be fishing a top-water lure, picking out a backlash then hear a big bass jump all over it?
  11. Jeans . If they are not warm enough I'm not fishing.
  12. Lily pads 12 inches down, I would have to go get every fish hooked. Sounds like stout tackle time. Strong single hooked lures like spinnerbaits , swimbaits on jigheads and chatterbaits
  13. I freeze them in a ziplock bag, no water. They will not be frozen for a year . I'll eat them before getting freezer burn.
  14. I dont know if Colorados catch larger bass than willows or not . Bass are so pressured these days that I prefer the less intrusive Willow/Colorado combo. Lure placement is more important than blades and skirts.
  15. I'm 66 and no longer own a bass boat . Do have a Lowe deck boat that my wife wanted but dont use it very often . I too, like to fish smaller bodies of water with a jon boat , elec motor and portable depth finder. I can still stand up in the 12 foot boat , havent fell overboard yet. My first bass boat was a wash tub looking thing called an Ebco. I had a little green box Lowrance flasher. Learned to bass fish by reading Bassmaster , watching TV and renting videos. Never had a teacher, learned on the water. Arthritis and back pains has slowed me down but I still fish hard , usually spend a min. of 8 hours once or twice a week weather allowing.
  16. I usually toss the Strike king Midnight Special and it has a silver Colorado. It works well , so I stick with it. Comes equipped with a rattle too.
  17. Spinnerbait and texas rigs are a good one/two punch . Spinnerbait fishes in wood well. I like to throw them first , see what happens then pitch a worm in same cover . I may put one down and only fish the other after the fish show a preference or keep tossing both . No time limits. Just go by feeling. If you find yourself just going through the motions then a change is needed. Also Glenn has a good video on spinnerbaiting and he talks about how to cast one. That is the most important part of fishing a spinnerbait. Find that video and mimic his casting if you are not already doing so. The roll cast will catch way more than the over hand lob.
  18. I dont like taking photos of strangers because I feel like I'm intruding , but I loved the look of this woman taken several years back . Maybe Cuban by the way she's dressed. Theres her walker, bucket, rag, scissors and holding her combo upside down .
  19. I love spinnerbaits but if they are not getting bit it doesnt take long to put them away . I dont have a time limit just a feeling. The lakes I fish typically have plenty of bass holding cover. I concentrate on how to best penetrate and fish that cover.
  20. A Carolina rig with 3/4 to 1 oz weight will cover deep water quickly.
  21. My last vetted post had the words "big one" in it. I guess that was it .
  22. I say 5. Last week I was a 2. Man I was slow on the trigger.
