  1. One of my favorite little lakes and the one I spent the most time on the past ten years , had an awful lot of bass die last year . I love the lake but I love catching bass more , so I'm shifting my attention elsewhere.
  2. Purples have always been my favorite . They catch bass everywhere . They took a back seat to watermelon and pumpkin but it seem to be making a big come-back . June bug is hugely popular. I always caught more with purple than melon and pumpkin hues.
  3. I'm satisfied with the available colors. I have got to the point that no matter what color, I like to take a chartreuse Spike-It marker and apply it to the entire length of the back of a worm . That gives it a two tone appearance . Seems to work a little better that way but it might just be me thinking that .
  4. Water temp in the low 70's post spawn , early summer . Caught about 40 yesterday with a 6 fish limit between 3 and 4 lbs. Top-water , Bomber Long A with a prop "discontinued lure called the Prop A" accounted for all the bigger fish around weeds and wood.
  5. If I ever get a chance to get back out Jelly worms 6"and 8", plus Yum Dingers. Texas rigged Dingers with a 5/16th oz weight has become my go to worm the past couple of years because of the ease of pitching and they get bit.
  6. After 55 years of wearing glasses I finally have a frame that fits me . They dont cut into my ears or slide down my nose. I'm afraid if I order glasses online they wont fit. I know several people who have and they say they are happy with them . Oh , amber is my personal choice to . They seem to separate objects better.
  7. I dont even wear clip-ons anymore . The side glare was horrible. I wear transition lens and accept the fact I cant see in the water as well as others . They are making transition lens polarized now but they were terribly expensive. The lab that does the lens for my local Wal_mart does'nt make those yet, so I'm holding out until they do.
  8. It takes me about 1 minute to make picks. I did drop Ike for Palaniuk already. Almost every time I change a pick its for the worse.
  9. I dropped 11 percentage points this event . At lake St.Clair I'm going to field a team with no Johnston's or Taku. Ike Felix Gallant Pipkens Kuphall
  10. I have never practiced at home. When I'm fishing shallow 100 percent of my cast is at a target . It might be the most minuscule change in the bank, maybe an out of place blade of grass . My eyes lock onto something.
  11. Clark just made things interesting.
  12. I hate action movies. They bore me to death. This is a good tourney . I'm watching the casting , the picking apart of cover . Dropping a spinnerbait in a small cut, skipping a popper under the buck brush. The anglers have to work for each and every fish . I'm watching guys trying to get bit , not hauling in bass after bass.
  13. I use the same ones I do for largemouths. I will slow roll spinnerbaits in deep holes on a local river , smallies will crush it.
  14. Pressure makes things difficult . Fish may still be holding in the same spots . This spring I caught bass one week with spinnerbaits, the next on a top water, the next with a worm, all in the same type places. I visualize where a bass may be hiding . Its automatic , been doing it for so long I dont think about it . Might be a little nook on the bank or different color spot on the bottom . Then attempt to cast like a touring pro . Still working on those skills and always will be.
  15. One day fish are caught on spinnerbait. Another day on a top water. Next day pitching worms. All in the same places. Just try to figure it out. The more one fishes the decisions become more routine. With a new angler it helps to visualize where a bass may be hiding then visualize the most effective presentation to get bit. Later on it becomes routine.
  16. Late May pitching Texas rigged worms to shallow wood cover. Whoops wrong thread. I thought I was in the what technique is working now thread.
  17. Being I use a lot of Yum Dingers , I have a never ending supply of torn up ones for Neds. They catch fish but I lose an awful lot to snags. Gizits seem to catch larger bass for me so I find myself going back and forth with them.
  18. I dont have one but will correct that. Gold blade spinnerbaits are stupendous and have a lot of success with the gold foil Fat Raps.
  19. When I'm running my boat the guy in back needs to adjust to my speed not vice versa. When I'm in the back I tell the man running the motor to pay no attention to me, I'll make do.
  20. This is shaping up to be my worse event so far . Only two in the top 50 after day one. 765 points
  21. This tourney is fun to watch . Tossing buzzbaits, spinnerbaits... at shallow cover is the way I like to fish.
  22. A keepers a keeper and a kickers a kicker. I like these type of events.
  23. They go by angler of the year standings.
