mid depth spinnerbait
Last week I caught bass by slow rolling a spinnerbait on steep rocky banks with parallel cast. Just let it settle a few feet then retrieved it slowly . It can be pumped if needed , just experiment . Its a pretty simple and effective technique and keeps the bait in the strike zone for most of the cast..

When are you throwing a horny toad?
Late spring through fall in Chara algae . They are one of the few lures that will go through it .Other than that never . I miss so many bass with it that it only gets thrown where other lures cant go.

Favorite Prespawn Baits
Spinnerbaits , crankbaits, jigs , Texas-rigs. I like to cover water "junk fish" the banks, creeks, coves and use whatever lure does a good job.

Pencil poppers
I have poppers , I'm referring to a pencil popper . They are getting used at Lake Murray in the Bass Elite tourney and last year at Table Rock I saw the owner of the cabin I was renting had one tied on .Yeah, I was checking the rods on his deck out. I've never used one .

Strike King Red Eye Shad vs Bill Lewis Rat-L Trap
I prefer a silent model or a one knocker most of the time . My favorite Red Eye Shad is a silent one but the weight has become loose . It has a very subtle knock .

Pencil poppers
Never used one. I thought they were more of a salt water deal . Clue me in on where and how you like to use them .

Snags approach leave or go get?
If their crushing lipless baits I'll hit as many stumps as I can with it then go back through with Texas rigs or jigs. Lipless are not my first choice in wood though .

Bassmaster Elite at Lake Murray
Ish Monroe said Fujita has five livescopes mounted , so he can now see all the way around his boat. I'm not in the anti-livescope crowd, is this fishing?. I would like to see some kind of limit placed on the number of units one can have .

Back Seat Experiences
I took a young cousin and were set up on a point . I tell him to cast this direction , thats where the bass are . Dont cast behind us. Its 40 foot deep and nothing there . So he proceeds to cast out in open water and catches a 4 lb bass, largest of the day . So I gave no more pointers the rest of the day and at least out fished him badly numbers wise.

Chronic Back Pain

Do texas rig hooks go through the bait or are they inside the bait?
Usually I push it all the way through to create a channel and then back it back in, with the point buried . I'm constantly experimenting . Been trying to barely skin hook on the side but that creates a lot of line twist .

What is your most productive technique right now?
Took the big boat out for the first time yesterday . Caught 10 bass . The first five were over 15 inches with three over three. The next five were under . All on spinnerbait. Water temp 59 to 65.

Ancestry??
I did the DNA testing and started searching online for family history . There are two books about my family . One is a family tree that dates back to 1600 Prussia/Germany . One has stories . I found the Revolutionary war pension record of my G-grandfather x 5 .He was a minute man and served three terms about a month each time . He was one of them who crossed the Delaware . I have lots of old pictures posted on Facebook and relatives from everywhere friending me to see the photos . Its pretty interesting . Heres one of my Great Grandfathers.

Big bass baits???
Whatever bait is chosen , it will not be much good if it cant be presented in the places bass like to accommodate. I choose lures by what will work well in those spots and that I can effortlessly and efficiently cast. In public waters here a 6 lber is a nice fish and any lure category can catch one . I dont even own a combo that will cast heavy lures well.
