You cant find a more turtle infested area than Mississippi river back water and largemouth bass thrive there .

I dont think turtles have a negative impact on bass but on the other hand , when they are sunning on a log and dive in when approached , I seem to do poorly on those spots .

Thats a hard one for me to answer . If there is something to follow like a point , fence rows, trees , break lines... they may use those as roadways . If there is nothing to follow doesnt mean bass are not present in the area .

You are probably not going to get the answer you are looking for . Channels on the lower end can be so deep they are irrelevant . If they swing close to bank then there will be steeper banks . Sometimes that is good . I usually seek out the docks on flatter banks . Those banks can be far away from any channel .

I've only seen that once . A bass jumped over a log to hit the buzzbait on the other side . Unlike you , I didnt catch the fish .

I keep an open mind . I like to dabble with something new or a new place but wont commit to it unless its productive.

I fished a flatfish , and Lazy Ike . I quit using them when I was introduced to bait-casters . I could not cast them . At one time my favorite plug was the Storm Thin Fin . I couldnt cast it with a bait-caster either .

Oh yeah . Another favorite was the Pico Perch. I still carry a Pico Pop in my top water box .

I've been using an older Zell Roland signature Zara Spook . It has the three rotating trebles . I throw it on a 7 foot mh , mod fast action Okuma rod, Piscifun Phantom reel spooled with 12 lb Big Game . Its been a hot lure lately .

The big bass seem to be rarer in the waters I fish . Those 6 lb plus bass that use to be fairly common are now a once a year catch for me . One lake I fish is trolling motor only , so the further away from take-off the less fishing pressure it receives . Ive been spending a lot of time in the far reaches trying to hook an 8 lber . I dont know , there might not be any 8's left there .

I have never been through this . I'm sure its tougher than I can imagine . My thoughts are with you two .

About thirty years ago I had an idea to make a crawfish crankbait out of cedar .The lip would be the tail . I dremeled it out , drilled a weight balancing hole , then forgot about it . Today I found it . What do you think . If hardware hooks and a paint job was added , think it would wiggle and catch bass ? Top , side and bottom .
