Looking at the lures that the top ten pros used at the recent Mississippi river tournament in Wisconsin . Gerald Swindel used dark frogs for dark skies , light frogs for bright skies . Chris Johnston , on the other hand , used light frogs for dark skies and dark frogs for sunny skies . Just goes to show it wasnt the colors but the people throwing them .

I have a lot of cranks that have never been used . Beside the Excalibur , there is the Fat free shad , several Lee Sission baits still in the package , some Poes and others .

I dont understand why they schedule tournaments being one week apart .

I think the square bill bite is happening at a local lake . I have a lot of lures that have not been used . So going through my lures I found a Xcalibur xcs100 crankbait , chartreuse black back . I read about that lure here before , so am eager to throw it for the first time . I have to start using some of these lures that I have never used on even opened ..

I put new hooks on a Big O and its tied on ready to throw next trip . My intuition is speaking . Plastic , silent version .

I dont have enough rod n reel to throw large baits . So I throw what i am comfortable with at cover and structure and take what bites .

I try to put myself in the best position to be successful. Let the other guys struggle , I'm out to catch bass .

Just go fishing and if you like it , you will stick with it and get better through the years . Learn to be stealthy and concentrate on casting . Poor casting is why most beginners fail at first . I witness it on a weekly basis . They see the same cover as better anglers and use the same lures but catch a fraction of the fish .

Yes in rivers . Even the Mississippi on rip rap .

Late September through October bass seem to be everywhere and nowhere for me . I might catch them 25 foot deep on structure or in the back of pockets one foot down . Its a confusing and fun time to fish . Once they get figured out it could be a bass on every cast for awhile .

Resurrecting an 11 year old post . This has been an extremely bad year for catching bass on crankbaits . Up until now I have not caught a single bass on a lipped crank .I had a Rapala DT Fat 3 in the box that had never been used . Started throwing it around some yesterday and caught a half dozen fish . 3 decent two lbers slammed it hard while fishing standing timer . It felt nice , tight action , the right weight for accurate cast . I'll be giving her another go next time out . Now I want a Fat 01 .to try above the chara algae.

Well I'm not going to waste my time fishing in places with poor bass populations .

I have a 30 - 35 year old Eagle FishMark 320 , that I converted to a portable unit on top of a gutted out trolling motor bracket . . It shows the thermocline and perfect fish arches and I never have to tweak it , never .The only thing I do to it is set it to a split screen .

Walking the dog takes a little bit of dexterity . It should take just a few cast to get the rhythm down .Buzzbaits can be fished in woody cover . Toads and frogs in muck . Like everything else ,good casting is the technique that is most important . Being I dont take a multitude of rods like pro anglers a Zara Spook sized walking bait is better than say a Spittin Image . I cant cast the Spittin Image very well on the gear I use .

I just set my digital camera timer to ten second , set it up and pose with my bass .

Nice realistic shad color. Theres a lot of nice realistic shad colors out there and I imagine one is as good as the other .

Almost 100 per cent of the time I throw a 1/2 ounce because it cast easier with more precision than any other weight on the rod I chuck spinnerbaits with . Thats how I choose . If I want smaller blades then I put them on it .

Did Matt Robertson get his wigs clipped after last tournaments antics ? He said yesterday that peep shows are not free and said nothing today .

I dont catch too many mid column . Most my spinnerbait fish are near the top . I'll guess 30 top 10 mid 60 bottom ..
