  1. I wear a watch with the three thinamajigs that goes around the dial . It takes a battery . My old auto wind watch quit working . I liked that watch .
  2. I thought this was going to be about the fishing lure and yes I have some and they do go backwards . On topic , I've never hit another person with a lure flying back but have hit myself numerous times but only been impaled once .
  3. The muddier the water the shallower the bass .
  4. I have a split bamboo heavy action casting rod . Its about 5 foot long and resembles a pool cue .It belonged to my grandpa and was in pieces . I had it glued back together , new modern eyes put on it , cleaned and varnished . It now hangs on a wall . Its the only thing of his I own .
  5. I have never used a bead .
  6. I like punch baits . Take a number 4 treble hook , punch it to the bottom with a stick then pull it out . It will make a big wad of catfish bait that stays on the hook . Danny Kings is good .
  7. The ones I have get pretty dark .
  8. Look into Transition xtractive polarized . They turn dark and polarize outdoors . I dont have them yet but my next scrips will be those . One set of glasses and be done with it . Clip ons , you get this super annoying side glare . I wear photochromatic any way and they get dark .
  9. Bama Bug and Junebug are great in stained water . I cant find a Bama bug Dinger around here right now. I bought and used them all up . A pack doesnt last long . I've been biting the tails off used ones and putting them on Ned heads , same thing , productive color .
  10. Dont you love it . The overcast day that was forecasted on Friday turned out to be almost completely sunny . They did get the mild winds correct .
  11. I got my dropshot rod at Wal Mart on clearance for 12 dollars . It says dropshot right on it LOL . I dont even know what brand it is . I'm sure its a pos by others standards but I dont know any better . It catches fish for me . Its called an insight pro advantage .
  12. Congratulations . Fishing on the bottom , detecting fish is an important skill. Jig fishing skills come in handy for deep spinnerbaits , lipless baits , blade baits and everything else . I never felt any difference between fishing a jig or a Texas rig . I've been bouncing crappie jigs in brush piles since I was a kid , so working worms and jigs came naturally . I have taken beginners with me who caught right on and others who never did get the hang of it .
  13. What do you think you are snagging on ?Are your baits getting wedged in rock , or dragging over brush ?
  14. I feel your pain . Go cheap . Lead weights , Eagle Claw hooks , bargain bin soft plastics .
  15. Yesterday I fished a rip rap dam . There seems to always be bass here . Fished the entire thing with a vintage Bomber Model A silent crankbait , it has proven itself many times on rip rap . Not a bite . Went back to the area of the dam that usually is the most productive , tied a ned rig to my fairy wand and quickly caught about a dozen .
  16. If you want to save a little cash , next time you buy plastic worms , dont buy Junebug. Instead buy Green Pumpkin or watermelon . They will last twice as long .
  17. When fishing cedar trees , I have to set the hook quickly before the fish wraps me up but also have to make sure I'm setting the hook on a fish . I developed the Greg Hackney style . Put a little pressure on the fish to make sure something has it then lay into her .
  18. Heavy traffic. I would rather drive in it than be a passenger but I dont like either .
  19. Ive been throwing a vintage Rebel Popper "Not PopR" some this summer .
  20. I had something happen the other day that I never seen before . I pitched a worm in a brush-pile then set the hook on a 14 incher . When the fish was boat-side and was lifting it in , a giant bass tried to eat it . This bass was perhaps my PB and he tried to eat a 14 incher .
  21. I do a lot of pitching into cover with a 5/16th oz . Would like to go smaller , I just cant present the worm to the fish very well with lighter weights . Thats all right though , I've been slaying them this summer . The worm bite has been hot this year .
  22. Hit em pretty quick , especially if fishing heavy cover . Letting a bass run through a cedar tree for five seconds before setting a hook and there is almost a 100 per cent chance that fish isnt coming out .
  23. I still suspect a bad guide with a crack at the bottom of the tip . Ive had it happen . During the retrieve the crack doesnt effect it much but the last foot or so with the weight of the lure hanging straight down , thats when the crack was causing damage . Over dozens of cast , it was shaving off miniscule amounts of line , then snap .
  24. Your profile pic is in water like that .
