  1. I agree. Seems kinda stagnant, doesnt it? Lol
  2. I've been a member for a little bit now. Just stuck to the confines of the Kansas Area Threads. Slowly ventured out, so I figured I'd properly introduce myself. Live in Wichita, KS. Fished as a kid with my dad. Mostly from shore. Cats, Largemouths, Crappie, Bream. Stopped fishing for a long time. Married, moved from my hometown in Upstate SC to Wichita KS. About 3 years ago, I started shore fishing again. Slowly grew from there, bought a kayak, LOVED IT, bought another one, sold the first one, then bought another one. So that makes 2 that I own currently. Mostly fish smaller State ran lakes. Less than 150 acres. Every now and again I'll venture out to a big reservior for some smallmouth action. By no means a great fisherman, I have more skunk days than I do great days. But, Its nice to get away and enjoy nature. BR has a wealth of info. I'm learning something new every day it seems like. Whether it's expanding techniques I already utilize, or it's giving me tips and info on new techniques. Nice to meet y'all. Mr_Scrogg
  3. Not one of your options, but I pick a Live Target Hollow Frog over a SPRO. Each person likes different things. I had a SPRO Bronze Eye once, and never got a blowup on it. Seemed like it always walked to one side (maybe just me). But Koppers Frog, I have many fish on, Love the 65T size. Personally, just had more success and have more confidence in a Koppers than SPRO. But I'm sure there are fisherman out there that has more confidence in SPRO than Live Target. Confidence is EVERYTHING. To help build it, use the Scum and when you have a real good frog bite on, switch to the SPRO in the same color scheme.
  4. Already sold majority of them to a fellow kayak angler. Sorry, bud.
  5. Blue, what kind of gloves are those? My wife has the "icky fish" syndrome and I cant find gloves she can effectively throw a spinning reel and still be full fingered
  6. Nice. From what little research I can do at work, Wellington City Lake is closed off to boating due to ramps being unusable. Im gonna call to see if I can launch my yak. Reports of some good size Hybrids there.
  7. http://astra.ku.edu/reservoirs/ Click on reservoir, then look at bottom for completed study. In some of the .pdf files you can find some maps
  8. Ive found a couple at the KU ASTRA site when they did sediment study. I printed off ones for Madison City Lake, Polk Daniels, and Eureka City Lake. I havent been able to find the maps again after the study was completef
  9. Cheney, from what Ive heard, needs to be mowed. LOL Its way way down. Should concentrate everything more. Basically look for shad busting, then go and toss some imitation shad lures Im assuming.
  10. Nice read, Carlos. Personally, I let what kind of cover I'm fishing dictate what I use. Submerged cover that comes within a few inches of the water surface, Buzzbait, Walk the dog, or Wakebait. Not so thick vegetation that comes to the surface. i.e Coontail, Waterwillow, Milfoil, then I'm throwing a Toad. Horny Toad or Ribbit. Thick of the thickest vegetation, Hollowfrog. Those are the baits that I mainly use. Never really got into poppers too much. I will be trying Prop Baits more this year. Like the Devil's Horse and such.
  11. I know that Cabelas and BPS has some of the bigger lakes. Free ones are hard to come by. So is the smaller SFLs. Google search could produce options. For the SFLs I just look at shoreline contours. And use experience. Sonars help a bunch.
  12. Im wanting to fish JEC lakes for smallies this year. I might can get some then. Wolf Creek is off limits for me due to power boats only. Marion is fairly close to me. I might have to give it a try. Wellington City Lake suppose to have a good population too.
  13. I know what you mean, retro. My boy loves impeding "action" on whatever he throws. In the form if violently shaking the rod. Lol
  14. How much your taxidermist charge to mount your buddy?!?!? I have a 3aH battery from the Interstate Battery Store. Powers my HB 346c DI nicely. Atleast 2 trips on a charge. Think the draw of my unit is 380mA/hr with backlight off.
  15. Nice yak. Love the CLEMSON TIGER ORANGE. I tried to get my C120 in it last year..... but that was EPIC FAILURE. Get some slime on her!
  16. I have NEVER caught a hybrid. :-( Heard they run like the dickens though
  17. I've took apart 4 of them that had rust on the hooks. Even just a little dot of it I'm going to replace. Soaking them now. Rear Prop on one was a bit rusty, so I trashed it and swapped the front one to the back. Gonna pick up some replacement hooks soon, and start tossing them. probably won't keep all. I'll pick out some and then sell the rest.
  18. I'll toss in my Daiwa TD-Advantage HSTA into the mix. Poor Man's Zillion is solid.
  19. Ive found War Eagle runs truer than most brands Ive tried.
  20. Majority I have is 52 MR Sinking, 7M Floaters, 51MR Sinking, and 7MR Floater. Big one is 85M Deep Runner, 77M, and a 7M Catch2000. All but the Catch2000 don't have split rings. they have the screw and keeper thing. Colors range from Chartruese/Gold Foil, Chrome, White/Red Head, even a couple Purple Demons. Couple Gold/Red Back
  21. Friend of mine just unloaded a ton of MirrOlures on me. Went through and trashed 5 or so for being eat up with rust. Some are new, but some I need to replace hooks. Living in Kansas, I dont get to the salt much. Anyone use these puppies for Green or Bronze fish?? One is MASSIVE, Deep Sinking I think. Looks like maybe something for Stripers.
  22. Im signed up for burgers. Should I cook them? Or is someone bringing a grill??
  23. Good looking fish, pull her off some brush?
  24. Slow roll that spinnerbait around the wood. I picked up 10 this morning on a Booyah
  25. From shore, your space is a bit limited. There are 4 jetties, and between one of them, and the west feeder is a big submerged tree. There are also some brush reachable from the left jettie at the ramp. Jettie to the right of the ramp has a steep drop 7-8' off the point. Later in the day the shallow flats to the left of the left boatramp jettie will warm. Big bay to the right of tge ramp is a huge flat. Around 8-10' deep. Definately work the wood/brush. The right jettie by the ramp, about halfway on right side of it are few rocks. That rocky bottom extends out 15-20'. Hope this helps!!
