  1. My club tourny is Sunday. Looks like good weather. I have 2 more reels to spool and I'll be ready!
  2. Man I'd love to but I don't have the vacation or the funds for this year. I will be planning on next year though!
  3. He was Zona's roommate in college.
  4. Grand gets a ton of tournament pressure as well as recreational pressure every weekend. Our club puts on a Friday night jackpot during the summer. We file the appropriate paperwork and make 4 of those tournaments all nighters. I'd put a Ben Franklin up that the fish was caught in a brush pile of offshore.
  5. I seen all your pics Dinky. EXCELLENT! I was the fat redhead at the Rib Crib sitting across from you when we ate out Friday night.
  6. I understand your frustration. That will never happen because it is a public water and they will not be able to stop them from following. But like PondBoss said, have some respect! That was one of the reasons the anglers were upset about basstrack. As a spectator I love it, as a competitor I would hate it. It was one of the reasons they had so many boats because the spectators knew where all the leaders were at on the water.
  7. I have not done this regimen. I contacted Brent Chapman over facebook a couple months ago. I told him I read a recent article that stated that he used a certain workout for pain in the areas a fisherman encounters. This is what he sent me. I seriously need to give this a shot. Let me know what you think if you start it up. Darin http://www.in-fisherman.com/2012/11/14/egocuse-perret-and-me-an-update/
  8. You betcha! The old record was about 2 pounds less and was caught off a dock last year. lol
  9. A 24 pound bag and a 12 pound TOAD! http://www.nicholsteamseries.com/2013/Event1/Nichols_Awards_-_March.htm
  10. I cut my teeth on crappie and cat fishing. I never knew what a bass was until the mid 80's. At the ripe old age of 9 or 10, I was at an uncles house in north Tulsa. I was sitting on the couch surfing the tube. Being a young man, it wound up on some sports channel. Guess what was on? Yup! The Bassmaster show. I sat there glued to the TV. I dreamed of one day fishing tournaments. Fast forward 4 or 5 years. I received a spinning combo from a girl friend at the time. I had heard from my buds at school about what I needed to catch a bass. So I struck out with combo in one hand. A pack of berkley power worms in the other. I headed to a pond not far from my house. A storm was rolling in from the west as I started fishing. I caught my first bass. A nice chunky 2 pounder. I went on to catch many more in the next 30 minutes. The one I remember the most, was the one that got away. I tossed my worm next to a single standing tree in the water. I felt the tap instantly. I set the hook. The rod bowed and I had hooked a monster! The fish, tail walks and spits the hook. I just sat down wide eyed and replayed what just happened. My heart felt like it was going to explode. From that point I had the bug. It was everything about bass! It got so bad as I got older, a bud and I would fish in between our 2 a day practices in the 90 to 100 degree heat. That was just how my insanity started in what I call an addiction today. When BASS announced it was bringing the Classic to Tulsa, I flipped. It has consumed me. Here are some pictures through my eyes. Even though it's a little blurry I thought it was cool. KVD talking to the crowd. Mike relaxed before game time. The one and only Mr. Overstreet. Lined up at the dock. Brandon talking strategy. KVD being interviewed in the background. I have no words. The champ Cliff Pace. He just doesn't know it yet. Ike. KVD. The Line at the BOK My Sooners being crowned college classic champs! National Anthem Ike A champion is crowned. I have more pictures in my gallery that I didn't post. Enjoy!
  11. The most famous IMO, Garth Brooks. My sister was BF with his ex wife in high school. I have autographed tickets and pictures. My mother catered his ex in-laws anniversary vowel renewal ceremony. He also sang at the ceremony, which only the people there got to witness. I met him the day of the rehearsal. He was playing with his youngest daughter, she was about 2 at the time. I had casual conversation with him. What impressed me the most was the day of the ceremony. After they were done, he came back to the kitchen in a tux and said "How are you today Darin?" The fact that he remembered my name says a lot about him. I see him and Trish all over our community. I live approximately 7 miles from him. A class act. As far as anglers. There aren't many that I haven't met or have a pic with. I received some personal instruction from Rick Clunn this past Sunday at the Classic Expo. That was cool. The other one that just stands out is The Big Show from the WWE. That guys is a stinking MONSTER. When I shook his hand I couldn't even see mine!
  12. He's a schmuck. I can't stand the loudmouth!
  13. The original wiggle wart looks a lot like the ones do today. It is whole instead of the lip glued into a slot. As far as telling the old from the newer version I am not sure how to tell.
  14. I tournament fish with senkos. I don't fun fish with them. I have to say, I have many things to try and learn. I can't say that there is anything I won't use or try except one. That is Z-man baits. I had a negative experience at their booth. They had an aquarium tank with some of their baits attached to some ice fishing poles. You could move the rod to see the action. I had my little 3 year old daughter in my arms and handed her the rod while I still had it too. The guy felt he had to repeat himself many and I stress many times not to take the lure out of the water. It was nowhere close to doing so. With that being said, you can fill in the blanks to what I said and with Luke Clausen standing there witnessing. I'm getting worked up as I type!
  15. Oh lord. I don't even want to remember the first one! It was a Sunday back in 2005. The month of June or July. I just remember it being hot. What made it so miserable wasn't only the 95 degree day with no wind. It was the day after my 10 year high school reunion. Bad, BaD, BAD day! lol
  16. Felix, with you being a co-angler, you'll be surprised how many fish you catch if your boater is using a spinner bait.
  17. This and add tubes. Don't forget the TUBES!
  18. I was wondering what everyone packs for a whole day on the water. I love food. I love to eat and I should eat to live but that is not as much fun. My usual old standby is PBJ. What are your choices for a day on the water?
  19. Mine is the cigar and scotch monkey!
  20. I purchased 3 at the Classic Expo. I won't be able to try them out for a few more weeks. They also did a presentation in one of the tanks. It seems to look pretty cool. It has a hunting motion rite out of the box.
  21. This is the reason I purchased the new 6'10" and 7'4" cranksters. Next week I'll purchase the 7'8" and I'll be able to get the Rage rod. I held one at the Classic Expo and talked to a few guys at the St. Croix booth. This rod is sooooooo light! It felt great in my hands. I can't wait to get it!
  22. If someone picks Landry Jones at all will be setting themselves up for and epic FAIL!
