  5. started fishing 45 plus years ago with 5500's still use 45/4600's c3 0r c4 to this day. have 9 of em. also use low profile reels. they each have a place in my way of fishing. use round for everything but lighter presentations. also do like the original Calcutta's. the 50 is an awesome little reel. as good as my pro/black max 1600's.
  6. built a spinning rod for pitching/flippin for my buddy. he can't throw a baitcaster to save his life.used an MHX 7-6 flippin stick blank and just used a good reel seat and good guides and onePenn 330ssg series reel with 30 lb. power pro and he was good to go.he has tried using a bigger reel, penn 430ssg but it seemed a little to big for his liking.
  7. it has been a good summer in central Fl. I live in Brevard county,30 minutes from the Stick Marsh.
  8. Abu 4600 c3......all day long....
  9. my biggest is 14-2. the best part was that my son was home on leave when I caught her. when he saw how big she was he freaked out and said,I didn't think they got big. then her head was so big that I had to keep her up so he could get the net under her tail and sling her in. my heart is still fluttering as I write this. like everyone says the sheer size just catches your breath. and a lot of prayers are said as you try to get her in.be patient it will happen. I've only got 3 over 10 in my life, and I've been doing this a long time........
  10. this.........
  11. would rather throw a buzzbait over a Plopper any day. just seems to work for me.
  12. you are right, the new textured finish altered the action slightly. been one of my favorite baits for years and still got plenty of older ones to fall back on.but you are on to something. still can find older models if you look. Walmart still has some of the smooth bodied ones.
