  1. Frogs, I try to wait and sometimes I think I do but alas that frog comes flying back at me more often than I want it to.
  2. Yep! The local lake I fish has some big fish in it. Last year a guy caught a 13 out of there and he was showing pics to the lady that runs the lake store. She wanted him to send her the pics so she could put them on Facebook. He was like "Nah, I will pass" LOL. I know she wanted to post it to boost her income but he knew better. Of course she can tell people about it, but nothing like putting a pic on the internet for all to see.
  3. Imagine all the people who "drop shot/bubba shot/power shot" before they ever had a name. LOL
  4. Is Jason Christie fishing? I don't mean that in a bad way or joking either. A zero on day one and a zero so far on day 2. Has anyone that is able to listen heard them say anything?
  5. Yep, spot lock makes retying or sitting down for lunch a million times easier. That Dr Pepper looks nice and cold!
  6. The one thing I have noticed about fishing ponds that have bass that are small is that they are easy to catch. It seems as though they are all fighting for food (hence the small size). Adding forage more than likely wouldn't help with size. Sounds like you should have taken some of them out to help the overall quality of the fishery. Over 500 fish and just 4 over 2 lbs tells me that the pond is WAY over populated. Catching a bunch is fun, but catching some big ones is even more fun.
  7. This ^^^^^ I have a Terrova and I HATE the foot pedal. I am somewhat getting used to using it but at first I wanted to go out and buy an Ultrex the day I first used it. I didn't think it would be "that much different" than a cable control. Boy was I wrong. I would buy an Ultrex in a heartbeat if I had the extra coin, but this one will have to do for now. In fact, I talked to a Minn Kota dealer about possibly trading mine in on an Ultrex, so I am still waiting to decide on that. Had I known then what I know now when I was buying, I would have 100% went with the Ultrex.
  8. I might could see Aaron Martens using them. Maybe one for each fish he is trying to dropshot on top of. LOL
  9. I just caught a little bit of the BPT action and saw where Jacob Wheeler had 3 graphs at the bow and 2 at the console. I am not sure what he runs but I am guessing he is at between $20 - $30,000 total in electronics all together. I realize this doesn't come out of his pocket, but dang, where does it end? How many graphs does one need? He has more in graphs than some people do in trucks and boats combined (me) LOL
  10. Hydraulics or no hydraulics, that would be the determining factor if I were deciding.
  11. I don't doubt there was a Tour de Lake here and there, but wasn't Wheeler's Dad and Uncle fishermen that started him fishing? I thought I remember hearing about them being the ones who got him started and his Uncle qualified for some big BASS deal or something. He fished some Jr tourney out of their old boat maybe. I may be wrong, but I remember something along those lines.
  12. I don't fish a T-Rig all the time, but I do every time.
  13. I am a huge Shimano fan and I have owned that reel. IMHO it is a novelty reel more than anything. It's one of those, "yea I have an Antares". There are way better reels out now for what you would be paying for that one. The Bantam MGL is light years ahead of that reel in almost every way aside from the name. I used mine for a little bit and realized it was nothing more than name as I had many reels that out performed it. You mentioned the Core, same way in a sense. There are reels out now that exceed the Core in many ways, but they don't have the name Core tied to them. Had Shimano named the Aldebaran 50 a Core and painted it black, people would have lost their mind. LOL All that being said, if I could get a deal on a 67 shortbed fleetside Chevy pickup I would buy one simply because I have always wanted one. So I say, if you want it simply just because, then get that sucker.
  14. I have the FishSmart app as well, but I like the Navionics because it has better maps IMHO.
  15. Would a person be able to hook a new G3 transducer up to that head unit? I have an extra Si/Di transducer.
  16. Having Spot Lock is worth far more to me than any graph.
  17. Do you have your Met's yet? Any idea when you might get them if you haven't? I ordered from Japan Tackle and it just said March. Edit* Just got an email that said I was 6th on the list, so hopefully early March.
  18. This might have been discussed, couldn't find it if it has. Could be a dumb idea, I don't know but I'm just thinking. Could a guy buy a tablet and mount it some kind of way (RAM mount) to the dash and use it for viewing lake maps while on the water. I have the Navionics app and I was thinking I could buy a tablet and use it for viewing a map on a larger scale than my Helix 8. This would also allow me to view SI and Sonar on my Helix while having the map on a separate (Larger) screen. Like I said, might be a dumb idea, maybe the kids are just driving me crazy, I don't even know at this point. LOL
  19. Got the SLX MGL 70 yesterday. Needed some upgrades/cosmetic work to make me like it a bit more. Added Curado K knobs, knob caps and 4 bearings to the handle. Put a Bantam handle nut on and painted the cast control cap with some Mercury Phantom Enamel Engine paint I had (hoping it holds up). Turned out pretty good. Threw it on a 7'2 MH Zodias with 40lb Sufix 832. Going to try some 3/16 oz T-Rigs
  20. Today is day 155 without having a beer. Coming from someone who drank every day for the last 10+ years it is something I am proud of. Nothing against anyone who enjoys drinking, I still wish I could indulge every now and again, but it was the best decision for my family and myself that I gave it up.
  21. Got the Expride today! Planned on putting a Shimano SLX 70 MGL on it but after holding it I decided to put a Bantam on it. This will work till my 2020 Met comes in.
  22. Geez, guys
  23. These rods may be awesome, but it was the perfect way to sell a bunch of rods. Someone is very business savvy. LOL
