Kayak Hoist
Yeah sorry guys, I may not have been crystal clear. I was talking ultra lazy, super simple (motorized). I actually picked one up last night and already set it up in my garage. pretty freakin' sweet too! just have to figure out the right straps/platform to raise it up on so that the kayak goes up even. right now it wants to go up nose first. hope to have something ironed out on it by the end of the weekend and can maybe follow up here with pics.

Kayak Hoist
if i did that, then the thieves would get two good saw horses two i wish i had a good pull around type back yard... then i'd have a lot more options. just thinking this would be a good way to do it.... i tried to rig up a pulley system but it's still a lot of awkward weight to pull up and hold to tie off and all that jazz

Kayak Hoist
Any of you guys use a winch or electric hoist to store your kayak in the garage or shed? My ride 135 is a bit heavy and i'm lazy.... so i'm thinking about getting a 400lb hoist from Harbor Freight for about $80 and using that to get my kayak up. I have high ceilings in my garage, like 15 ft tall, so i'd like to hoist the yak up to the ceiling.... just not exert too much energy in doing so.... just curious if anyone else does something like this? Thanks!

Which Walk-The-Dog Lure Is Easiest To Walk
i had just broken them in to the point of useful for you.... i'm just a sucker for that LC MS American Shad pattern..... had to give it a try.

Expensive Lures - Selection
snagged my megabass giant dog x the other night on a log about 40' out from the bank and the line broke off. i spent a while trying to snag it with another lure and gave up..... only to try again a little while later and finally hook up with it and pulled it off the log all the way to my feet!! made me more excited than the two fish i had caught on the thing earlier in the evening!!

Which Walk-The-Dog Lure Is Easiest To Walk
another vote for the spook, but the megabass giant dog x is a killer bait that is super easy to walk too.... just far more expensive than the plain old spook. i felt that a sammy was the hardest to walk... i could never do it right for some reason.

Revamping My Dropshot.
i like the jackall crosstail shads as well BUT nothing has worked on the DS for me like the roboworm. Not too specific on the size, they all work. Best color for me has been morning dawn.

Dobyns 765 Glass Vs Graphite
well i have the 705CB (glass) and love it. Awesome for cranks, awesome for bladed jigs too. Haven't thrown much else with it, but sure it would even handle spinnerbaits and perhaps topwater too.... really awesome rod, glad i went with the glass even though i have no comparisons to make to graphite.

Jika Rig
ok, thanks OP and JFrancho.... i'm going to have to give this a shot. sounds like a solution for the weeded areas i come across where i just can't stand using the t rig because of the slop i pull back.
-
Expensive Lures - Selection
you'll never feel so good about spending $20 on a lure as you will with the popmax (or even popx) best part for me is that it's a topwater bait so i'm so much less likely to lose it, thus makes parting with that $20 that much easier. the craftsmanship on the megabass lures is unreal.

Jika Rig
Jon, are you making your own or buying a jika rig? Just wondering what type of pencil weight you're having luck with? The owner jika rigs i saw had a weight that was not quite a pencil, more of a teardrop i would say.

^^ that is one purdy reel!!!

Jika Rig
i almost bought some owner jika rigs the other night, but for some reason just couldn't pull the trigger. It does look like it would make for a good presentation though. instead i opted for some swinging jig heads, but haven't given them a shot either. i was wandering if these jika rigs may be better or worse for avoiding hang ups when fishing around some pretty thick cover such as laydowns?

Worth Going Cheap On A Frog Rod?
i too would say you don't NEED a high end frog rod.... that said, i had a frog n slop mojo rod and sold it off. You could go to Home Depot or Lowe's and get a wood or true temper shaft and it would be about the same. Broomstick is an understatement for that rod. I just could never get the thing to load up and cast for me. I actually used to have an el cheapo 7'H quantum rod that i can't remember where it came from, but that thing for some reason was AWESOME. perfect for loading up on the cast and perfect backbone for frog hooksets. I just don't throw frogs enough for a dedicated stick anymore so if i want to, i will throw them on my jig rod the few times I actually throw a frog....

Small Guides & Big Knots
i'm in full agreement here A jay. right now in the flea market I'm selling off a rod that i very much like, but can't love because of the micro guides (and i almost say NANO guides). Shimano Cumara jig and worm casting rod. Guides are so small it sucks to use a leader with the rod. Straight line, no problem, but add a leader (uni to uni) and it makes for a pretty poor experience. I always thought i wasn't that particular, but i've found that i am in this case.
