  1. Never flushed anything out. I've added a drop of oil here and there and that's it. I throw cranks on my bb1 so I can't say for settings. My TP's have 2 brakes on and Mag braks on 1-2 normally.
  2. I own multiple Lews reels and have never had an issue. You might of just gotten a bad reel. It does happen here and there. Can you take it back and exchange it?
  3. I'd never heard if this till I went to Tx this May for a fishing trip. I was in love instantly but as someone already mentioned it's full of repeats. Hey I was content with it though. At home I get the outdoor channel. Thursday has mlf when it's running but all the other shows are on really early in the am. I don't typically catch them.
  4. Smacked my friend in the back of his head with a kvd 2.5 on a full blown cast. Buried 2/3 hooks. Had to cut his buff off and then the split ring. Then 2 hooks at the bend. Push them through and pull out with pliers. This was last week on my Tx trip.
  5. *** black 7'3 heavy with #65 power pro and a Lews tournament 7:1:1
  6. Just fished Rayburn for 8 days and it was tough. Even talked to a few guides and they said the same thing. Best producer for me was a C rigged fluke on drop offs to deeper water. There was a wind advisory for the first 2 days and then a tornado warning so the water was muddy.
  7. I Palomar everything except flipping hooks and I use the snell on those. Hookup seems better.
  8. Falcon bucoo micro. Great rod and price Cashion micro. love it but can be considered expensive depending on your budget. Kistler micro mag. Have 2 and want more. Also can be pricey but they do go on sale or eBay. 2 customs with micros 'sold recently' great rods and less then $250ea. Great way to get exactly what you want.
  9. Just look back a few pages or search. This question was just asked not long ago.
  10. www.therodsman.com I purchased 2. They're a great way to transport.
  11. I just purchased a 7'3 H a few days ago. It's good for the price point but I didn't care for it that much to use for flipping and pitching. 1 it starts to hurt my fingers/hand how I hold it. 2 it tip wrapped like crazy on me. 3 with a Lews TP it felt heavy. Not a huge issue since I can put a different reel on it. Never had tip wrap with my Powell 7'6 so idk what was going on. It'll become my frog rod since my powell doubles as a frog rod too. It does have good cosmetics, true to power, nice grips, pricing, sensitive
  12. Dead horse lol
  13. I just flew on the 18th. Checked bag only. Can bring your reels as carry on and I had a few bags of soft plastics also.
  14. I was referring to the member above asking about *** black rods. That's what bought. I have a Lews TP on it with power pro #50. I just re read what I said and edited it. I was using it for flipping with a 1oz weight and 5/0 flipping hook. That's when the tip wrap kept occurring. It did fine with just a frog. It will be my designated frog rod.
  15. I just picked up a 7'3 H last night for a frog rod. Everyone had tons of good stuff to say so I figured why not. I used it this morning for a bit. It's not bad but I keep getting tip wrapped a lot with it while using it for flipping and I've never had that with my other rods. For $120 it's an ok purchase as far as a frog rod is concerned but for me it won't double as a flipping rod also.
  16. It turned into a cluster F. 12:45 departure changed to 1:45 then to 3:30 and finally cancelled altogether. Luckily I was able to get a later flight. Long long day but tomorrow hopefully I'll make up for it. Sadly one of my eyelets got mangled on my Powell flippin' rod. Hopefully I can get it fixed locally on Monday.
  17. Cool thanks. Currently I'm sitting a DFW airport due to a huge delay. 2hrs to go still.
  18. Yeah I was referring to my luggage with those prices. That's why I shipped my rods. Same price and insured plus can be tracked. Also don't have to carry around an 8' piece of PVC tubing.
  19. You can't take them as carry on. You can check them as a bag but sometimes oversized charges apply. In my case I have to pay $25 for my 1st checked back and $35 for a second. So paying the $53 for UPS and knowing they're insured and have a tracking number was worth it. Plus I have 2 bags already to lug around so it was easier for me.
  20. I'm actually leaving tonight for Tx. I went to Lowes and bought a 10' piece of 4" thin wall PVC and end caps. Cut it down to 8'. I shipped 7 rods through ups to Tx a week ago. Got there just fine and with no damage. Cost me $55 with $900 worth of insurance. USPS broke a rod I shipped so I'm not using them anymore.
  21. All of what you mentioned I don't really have. I have about 10 series 5 SK cranks. Not the xd midels and no Alabama rigs at all. Maybe 2 1oz jigs. Ton of 1/2oz though. I have plenty of punch hubs/skirts and 1.5 tungsten weights. Where I live the water doesn't get that deep at most places I fish. Just tons of vegetation really. Big bass splash is on Toledo this weekend I believe.
  22. The boat has a lake master chip installed for Rayburn. Not really sure how they work but I believe it has a really good map on it. When you say deep what are we talking here? 20ft or 50ft
  23. ^^^ bucoo micro is a great rod. Super light and has plenty of sensitivity. Only thing I've noticed is they're about a 1/2-1 power under rated. I have 2 of the 6'10 H pitchin' sticks and they're are great but more of a true MH rod rather than H.
  24. Maxx group 29 over a year on it. Same with the starting battery. Just purchased a group 29 non maxx for a 2nd trolling motor battery.
