@bigturtle Gear ratio doesn't really matter. Ipt is what matters to most people. The want an 8:1 for more line pick up. The new tatula takes up 83cm which is 32.6 ipt. The sv103 7:9:1 takes up 33.6 ipt so even though the gear ratio is slower it's actually faster.

The SV103 for $260 online would be roughly the same price.

Pitch = tossing a bait to specific targets or areas. Usually done with a flick of the wrist. Like trying to pitch a paper ball into the trash can. It's already been said a few times. Yes, it can be done but your typical spinning gear is aimed more towards lighter baits so it's not optimal. If you go with a heavier power spinning rod then sure. Practice makes permanent so just keep at it with your casting rod and next thing you know it'll be a piece of cake.

My guess would be in the $199 range for the tatula ct sv.

Figure out what you want to spend and then find a company that offers a reel with the features you're looking for. The top 2 are going to be Daiwa and Shimano. Both companies actually produce their reels and they aren't made by one of the main factories like Doyo that produce reels for Abu/lews/Bps/ect. Now that doesn't mean other companies don't make nice reels though. It's just personal preference in what you like.

It's a very overlooked reel and I'm not sure why. My guess is due to its weight.

It needs torn down and properly greased/oiled. It's pretty normal for a reel to be over lubed from the factory. Plus after a year of use a good cleaning wouldn't hurt anything. The spool shaft bearing is held in place by a pin. You'll need the proper tool to remove it. The sideplate bearing is held in by a thin metal clip. Be careful it doesn't fly away when you pop it out.

Are you tx rigging it with or without weight? How much weight are you using? I use a mh for trick worms and 1/8oz tungsten.

More does not equal smoother. Quality bearings in the right place equals smoother. Shimano for example uses less bearings than a lot of other companies and their reels can/will feel smoother when compared to other with say 10. The number that is blocked is in the settings of the forum. It doesn't matter if you're referring to said company or the amount of fish you caught today. It's simply just blocked either way.

I tear them completely down and perform my annual deep cleaning. Then store them away in a padded case with the drag star backed off. Spools get stored in a separate padded box with painters tape around them to identify what line is on it.

832 is smoother and quieter than regular power pro. Regular pp was my choice until I switched to 832. Now I've switched to j braid though. Same benefits of 832 but it's a good bit cheaper.

Your Abu rod fishes like a mh. I'd be looking into a heavy/fast for what you listed. As you already know because of your Abu rod... just because it say heavy doesn't mean it will be a true heavy. Dobyns for example fish 1 power lighter than rated.

I've used a few of the Ray's Studio items. Handles,drag star, and diy spool. The handles and stars are good quality. The spools are decent for the price too. There have been some issues with them but overall still a good product. Roughly a 1 month wait for it to arrive.

It's only money and you can't take it with you. Buy what makes you happy and smile.

Both sizes walk just fine. Yes, the max walks easier but as mentioned the x does fine too. I catch more on the pop x than the max. They can get pricey but if you keep an eye out you can pick them up for $10-12 online.
