No keeper is standard practice on most jdm rods. They tend to use the hood of the reel as their keeper. Digitaka is a good company to order from if you do pull the trigger on one.

Majorcraft has a speedstyle model that's 6'4. They offer both UL and LT.

My topwater rod is also my jerkbait rod. I use a leader on it so it can perform double duty. A lot easier to spool it with #20 braid and tie various leaders. Abrasion resistance - pickerel love jerkbaits and their teeth will cut braid in a split second. Also rock and wood doesn't play real well with braid. Shock absorption - helps from straightening out small #6 hooks found on a lot of jerkbaits. Also with pulling the hooks out of the fish. Handling - straight braid gets fouled in the hooks very easily and is very irritating to deal with. The springiness of mono/fluoro helps to eliminate that. Bite detection - in the case of fluoro it offers better slack line sensitivity than straight braid. A lot of jerkbait bites come while it's paused and there's no tension on the line. Those are my 4 main reasons for using a leader. The first 3 are the biggest ones though.

The original tatula could be upgraded fairly easily with the purchase of four 4x7x2.5 bearings. You can add 1 to each knob and 2 to the worm gear. I will add that I did this upgrade to 1 reel and left the other reel stock. If I was blindfolded I couldn't ever tell them apart. However, the 4 bearings ran me about $8 and that alone was worth it to me over a plastic bushing. Plus I enjoy tinkering with stuff. I also added boca OS7 bearings to the one reel. It requires 3 in all. No real benefit, but again I like to tinker.

You can use any spool in that reel that states it'll fit a Steez/Tdz/Is Tdz type r and Steez 100 spools both hold a decent amount of line. The Rcs 1016 is a good choice. The one you mentioned is nice also.

Online ordering is pretty standard in 2016. I'd say 85% do it. $20 is normal for shipping a rod. Some online places don't charge though.

The max is about 2.5x bigger, and both baits have gill slits in them.

It's automotive grade paint. Same epoxy/base/clear used to paint a car. Depending on what brand paint you use makes a difference in price. PPG and house of colors are some of the best. Then you figure in if you're using metallics,flakes,pearls, or chameleon. Those all add to the price. Then you have all the prep work and masking it off. They have a few hours in it.

$150-200 depending on the paint job. It's a time consuming process if you send it to someone who does it right.

I can confirm that it's not an hlc spring but it is an improvement over the stock spring for sure. I already had a few that I ordered awhile back. Upgrade but not the magic ticket. It's still softer in spring rate.

I wade a lot using 2 rods. I wear a backpack and keep a few bags of plastics and a plano 3700 box with my terminal tackle and hardbaits in it. I stick the spare rod in the backpack and zip it up. You can move freely and switch rods when you need to.

You can't put Daiwa knobs on a stock Shimano handle. You will need to buy 2 bearings if you want to have a 4bb handle.

100% normal with Dobyns rods. They fish 1 power lighter than what they're rated. Plenty of threads about it if you do a quick search.

Same here. The tdz has a straight handle and still to this day is better than a lot of other reels you can buy.
