Yes, any technique that falls into the rods weight range. Just remember that the listed power doesn't have a set standard. So one companies light could fish like a medium light or vice versa. A buddy has a medium Powell diesel spinning rod and it's very stiff. It's stiffer than some of my MH casting rods.

I've purchased plenty of reels using eBay or other sites. Buy from a good seller and you have nothing to worry about. A lot of reels from overseas don't come with the oil because it's sometimes considered to be a contaminant.

Although I enjoy the technical aspect of it all, things like this make it even more complicated for a lot of people.

My new favorite is Daiwa J braid. It's smooth,quiet, and cheap. I fish it along side of regular power pro,pp ss8, and 832. None have failed me and they all perform.

Congrats on your new combo. Just a heads up but if you have some troubles with the line then take some off. It's kinda hard to tell from the pic but it appears to be slightly overspooled. My reel states in the paper to not spool it as full if using braid and not mono.

From what TW offers I'd pick up the boca Lightning lube oil and the Okuma/Cal's universal drag and gear grease. You'll have enough to last you quite some time for about $18. For me - grease goes on gears,drag washers 'if necessary' worm shaft, and main frame bearings. Oil for the spool bearings and other non frame bearings. Others reel techs will have their own methods but that's what was advised by 'the best' reel tuner in the business. For me it was hard to argue against that.

There's no right answer as with most 'xxx lure' questions. Conditions change daily and even hourly. Sun gets brighter,baro pressure rises,clouds move in,ect. Some days they want it silent, and some they don't. Some days they want a larger offering, and some they don't. Some days they want a certain pattern, and some they don't. Some days they don't want a walking 'spook' type bait at all, and some they do. That's all a part of fishing. Figuring out what the fish want on that given day. If it was that easy it wouldn't be much of a challenge. We'd all just tie on a 'insert color' spook each time we went out and catch 20 + fish that day.

Choose a rod based on the weights of what you're using. Phenix makes a nice light and medium light rod. I have both a 6'8 light and a 7'1 med/light. I use the 2 power for true 1/8oz baits like the #5 yozuri pins minnow,Ned rig, and things up to 1/4oz. I use the 713 for weightless senkos and similar things around the 1/4-3/8 range.

Hard to beat a 5" senko. It can be rigged so many different ways. Either weightless or with some added weight. It will almost always catch some fish. Texas rigged wacky rigged neko rigged

Haha it could be. I'm not exactly sure. Strictly for collection purposes. I didn't even open them. It's a cool little bait with an adjustable lip. Might grab a few to actually fish with and see how I like them.

For the money the Strike King S11 glasses are nice. You can get Costa hammerheads with the 580P lense brand new for about $115.

The hot water will soften the plastics. I've used that method to straighten bent soft plastics. My only issue would be the 5/0 ewg hook. I have no need to use a hook that big on a 5" senko. If wacky it's a 1/0 finesse wide gap and if t rigged it's a 3/0 straight shank worm hook or ewg.

I like their action a lot. I saw a video they'd posted showing it in a tank. I've never pulled the trigger though due to how cheap the stick o is for 16 worms.
