Well I'm bored waitin for the wife to get ready so we can go do the Christmas stuff with kids and thought of this question. How many of you who are over 65 still enjoy fishing tourneys in any capacity....club...opens etc. Tight Lines I DO........

Fishing Skirts is good...I like tying with kevlar thread. No rust and very tough to break.

Cold hands
I tried something yesterday that I haven't and it seemed to work quite well. Part was from a friends recommendation and the other was what I've been wondering for awhile. Since it was cold yesterday and the guides were freezing some "I tried it" My friend said to put hand warmers on the underside of my wrists as it would warm the blood going to my hands and second I wore a light latex glove on my reel hand under my light gloves as this hand is prone to get wet. Well....my hands are horrible in cold....horrible....AND IT WORKED!!! Perfect no....but I'm impressed and will continue this. The day was very bearable. It was also nice to handle fish with the latex...hand stayed dry. Anyway...my story and am sticking to it Tight Lines

Fall/Winter fishing
Was so awesome....got to get on the water yesterday during our really first cold day here in Tennessee. Had a little snow which is so pretty the way it falls and everything gets quiet. Was wondering how long it would last as I live on a hill so could be ugly with the boat. Stuck it out till almost dark.....caught a catfish...some perch...bass...crazy smallie. But generally a tough bite....think I was fishing to fast in some cases as I hadn't been on this lake in awhile and wanted to be everywhere at one time!!!

Is bass gear overkill?
Then there's the jaw closing power of both smallies and largemouth. Setting the hook with a light rod sometimes does not get the hook in there. BUT...isn't it wonderful that fishing can be done by sooooo many techniques and styles. Where would the "BS" and the tackle manufactures be if we only used cane poles from one swamp!!

Winter tips
Hopefully someone in your area will help. Personally have done well in cold water with 8# PP and a 6# fluro leader. Using a small lead head of about 1/8 or smaller with a small senko or dinger style bait. Cast long distance and either count down a certain depth or let go to bottom and reel in slow and steady. As for colors .... in clear water or slightly off colored I like pumpkin or ozark smoke. But I do carry a number of colors....green pumpkin chart tail can be amazing too. Just got in the mail some bluegill that I am soooo anxious to try. Tight Lines

Bucket list; signed up to co-angler BASS Open
First...that's awesome...enjoy. I would try to keep an eye out on where the boater is casting and cast inbetween. Also realize that getting a good boater can be the luck of the draw and having a good mental attitude is HUGE. You have the advantage of fishing your home waters so enjoy the day and fish to your strengths. Good Luck

leaf blower no no's
Was just thinking about one of my first jobs many many years ago for a nursery. Boss told me to take down some pipes and pumps over some beds. Was having some trouble .... he told me to go to the pump end and start there. Well...(not a good idea) pipe broke in pump....got fired....(did go duck hunting right after that though...so not to bad a day) Memories
