What's amazing to me about these little fish is that sometimes they get the whole treble in the mouth!!!!!! HOW.

Would be interesting to dive the lake or maybe tag some fish there to see what they do

Small fish eat crumbs...big fish eat small fish!!!!

I had a case many years ago on a small clear lake that was interesting. I had approached this small cove very quietly (I thought) and put my small boat up under the trees in the shade. I had lily pads to my left with open water to my right. I saw some motion in the pads ... flipped over there and caught a small fish. A few minutes later about three or four large bass come swimming by the boat about 30 ft out. All at the same time they turned towards my little boat and appeared to be looking at me. This lasted about 15 seconds!!! They then turned and headed on down the bank. I did not get another bite in the area. Was crazy!!

I have fished a couple parks with a lot of those birds too and the only real big thing to me was all the pressure that happened there. Best lure used to be a little shad rap for me on light line. Being a river the water should stay decent. Good Luck

Almost always have a pitching rod on deck ... it's usually good for a bite or two too....love using those strike king bugs too that Glenn got me started on!!!

I love just having one or two rods on deck....but how often does this happen!!!!!

We have Tuesday and Thursday night tourneys on a small local lake and in Sept it gets tough. Sometimes one or two small fish will put you in the money. Well the last week I blanked on both days and was scratching my head.....still am. Did hook a couple but they were striking short and came off. Last night I got a HOG....1.8# and took big fish and second place....(what a head scratcher) Lost another good one too. I believe there were around ten or twelve boats and only four fish were weighed in. It may be tough ... but love the challenge.

There is definitly a tougher period when they first start the flushing of the upper reservoirs. At least for me too. But shad will start coming in numbers to the back bays here pretty soon and the fish will follow. A great time of year....good luck. I too am definitly on the learning curve on east tenn lakes but that is what makes fishing awesome.

I do love a bit of venison....but I do LOVE the quietness on the water this time of year till March. Lots of things to pull people off the water....schools back, football, hunting, raking leaves.....oh...and hard water.

After just reading about all the snakes in that area.....hmmmmmm.....could be interesting.

"Try" to follow the age old saying "Do unto others as you would have them do to you" Doesn't work to bad and I feel better with myself.

Hmmmmm.....when you mention which is better if it were me I would imagine I would take the one that puts more $$$$ in the bank. Could be a healer and lead to help a person to focus on other goals. (Classic)

Forgot about you people with the "hard water"....wow....it's hard enough when the body tells you to slow down but to have the weather do it too....ugh.

Have always enjoyed pouring and tying my own jigs....1/4 to 3/4 depending on depth and current. Green pumpkins and browns a favorite. Poisen style for heavy brush has also worked well too.

Good question...around here it's a rare day when a brushhog doesn't work....also could say the same for a beaver style bait but then I'm starting to be a big fan of the Rage Bugs....great action. I go with the idea that I start with my favorite and if need be "change". Tight Lines

Just kind of curious with this crowd. What is your favorite time of year.....I'm going to pick the fall and it's cooler weather and changing colors and the fishing starting to chase in the shallows. (Didn't have this back in Oregon) I am so waiting for the 50 and 60 degree days and not feeding the mosquito's and swatting at deer fly's and hornets. I also love the quietness on the water most days with that chill in the air with the sun giving that special warmth that only happens in the fall. It's not to bad either that after a great day on the water with family or friends to go home and watch a football game too for icing on the cake you might say. Anyway...tight lines all. Don't get me wrong everyday above ground is a gift from above to be enjoyed but fall is special to me.

Agreed.....I would use a leader too. Size depends on your mission.
