Just kind of curious with this crowd.

What is your favorite time of year.....I'm going to pick the fall and it's cooler weather and changing colors and the fishing starting to chase in the shallows.  (Didn't have this back in Oregon)  I am so waiting for the 50 and 60 degree days and not feeding the mosquito's and swatting at deer fly's and hornets.  I also love the quietness on the water most days with that chill in the air with the sun giving that special warmth that only happens in the fall.  It's not to bad either that after a great day on the water with family or friends to go home and watch a football game too for icing on the cake you might say.  Anyway...tight lines all.

Don't get me wrong everyday above ground is a gift from above to be enjoyed but fall is special to me.

That’s a pretty tough call for me.

While the newness of the spring & the excitement of the pre-spawn bite can and often does lead to some of the biggest bass of the season, there’s just something very special about the fall.

Perhaps it’s the refreshing cool air, the intoxicating colors everywhere I look, the lack of biting insects, the lakes get quiet again and then there’s the fishing. 

Man, I’ve had some dream like days on the water in the fall; especially recently. 

And knowing that it’s all coming to a rapid end, and that hard water is just around the corner,  seems to make each & every autumn trip that much more special . . . .

Spring and fall.

 

Spring because after 5-6 months of little to no sunlight it's nice to get some sun and warmer temps. Everything becoming green again is very welcomed also.

 

Fall because after warm muggy temps of summer cool crisp air is really nice. 

 

 

Prespawn

It's always been spring for me. Start of a new season. fat prespawn bass, mother nature's rebirth and another chance for a new PB. What's not to like about that.  

for me,all year long.even in the heat of summer. just being outside is what it's about.

Before I would say spring, but I get pretty good bites in the fall too.

This coming spring I plan to target pre-spawn bass with big swimbait earlier up until Feb and then skip to hunt Crappies instead (if I know how and where by that time). It might not be a good spring for me next year.

Fall, I like wearing jeans and a sweatshirt, smokin em' on jerkbaits. 

Forgot about you people with the "hard water"....wow....it's hard enough when the body tells you to slow down but to have the weather do it too....ugh.

Basically the time I have the boat out of storage.

 

Winter blows. I tried ice fishing for a few years...hate it. So now I pass my time in the winter shooting guns and reloading ammo.

I vote fall too.  Especially October and November.  The fishing, hunting, sports, colors, and weather are all selling points.  I enjoy going from winter to spring too.

Spring, what's not to like about being able to fish for big, aggressive bass in shallow water after dreaming about them for the entire hard water season?  I love all three phases of the spawn, and ice-out should be declared a national holiday.

Definitely the Fall.  The cool mornings and warm afternoons without much if any real rain and the winds are mild. The weather at the beach is the best of the year and the topwater bite around The Dalles is on.  Kids are back in school and the pressure is off.  Now that I'm retired, this Fall will be even better as I can pick and choose days to fish.  There's always taking the grandkids to the pumpkin patch and football, baseball and the sound of geese flying south. I love it. It was 94 today so Fall is welcome here.

Mid-summer night, deep water structure, full moon on the horizon, gentle southern breeze, Hoot Owl in the distance, the solid thump on a jig!

I'm a bit different as I like the summer for fishing.

Fall. It's cooler outside, the kids are back in school, and most of the recreational boaters are off of the water. 

Summer and more specifically Summer nights. It's hard to beat night fishing In the South!

Most definitely the fall.  Weather cools down, zero to no wind, and the stripers go nuts at my local lakes.  Perfection.

Love the colors and the crisp air. Good camping / fishing weather.

I could make a strong argument for the spring since after being cooped up all winter, the weather's finally getting nicer and I'm thinking about fishing, planning camping trips and fun stuff to look forward to. 

 

Then there's summer. I usually don't care for the heat of the average summer, but tame summers like this one aren't bad. My bboys are out of school and we go camping at least two weeks of the summer every year. Sitting on a pier fishing during sunset is always a good time as well.

 

Then there's fall. The bass start to get active all day long, the leaves turn pretty colors, but there is a bleak outlook of the upcoming winter, and in this case the expectation of an early winter that I half expect to set the record for total snowfall.

 

As long as it's not winter. I don't really ice fish, although I am contemplating trying it this year.

Early winter and early spring, like late October-mid December and then late February-mid April. Those are the best fishing times, and the times when there's the fewest other people on the water in combination.

It's this time of the year, and its not even close! Cooler days, water is still warm and some of the best fishing (fresh and salt) and surfing of the entire year!
